Ristef and the rest of the Elder Council are concerned about the future of Dragokind. More Elders should have returned through the Gate of Embers when it was opened, but very few have. You have learned of Balennos lost companion, Aratanosh, and have also learned about Kallnioth, daughter of Drulkar himself, and the first Crystalshaper.

Steps[edit]

Quest Text[edit]

Karane tells you, 'My friends, there is nothing more I can tell you of Kallinoth or of Crystalshaping. But, you have gained much information about Aratanosh and the Realms. Return to the Council with your information.'

V'Tieru tells you, 'Welcome, <player>. I have received word from Karane, Valkoth and Semeneth of your discoveries. Kallinoth the Shaper and the nature of Shaping. Balennos and Relstaroth's companion, Aratanosh, and some information about the nature of the Realms. --more--

'

V'Tieru tells you, 'I am sure, however, that this has left you confused. After all, Balennos spoke of a Transition which may be unfamiliar to you, yes? Memories do not fade after travel to the Rift and it is part of the Realms. The magics of the Rite protect you when you travel in The Rift. But only for a time. For one to remain in The Rift for weeks or years would require a Transition. --more--'

V'Tieru tells you, 'In order to remain within a Realm longer than a mere hours or even a few days, one must become more like the nature of the Realm itself. To survive for a long period in The Rift, you would have to Transition your current form into a more ethereal one. For that is the nature of The Rift. For the Realm of Fire, you must become fire. --more--'

V'Tieru tells you, 'You may have heard the Legends that say Dragonkind was born of the Realm of Fire, yes? Well, it is true. Once we were beings of fire. But Drulkar and the First Dragons made the Transition to the Prime. Our memories of that other existence faded and eventually were lost. --more--'

V'Tieru tells you, 'To go back to the Realm of Fire you must become fire. But the longer you remain in that form the more of yourself you lose. You will eventually become part of the Realm and will have little or no knowledge of life on the Prime. --more--'

V'Tieru tells you, 'Now, the Guardians. You wanted to know of them as well, yes? They are beings born of the Realms, like the original Dragons. Drulkar and the First Dragons were beings of fire, but they were infused with the most basic magic, Primal magic. It is these energies not of the Realm that the Guardians can sense and feed upon. They hunt those who cross over, for a short time or those who make the Transition. Guardians are drawn to this power like a hatchling is drawn to its parents hoard.'

Semeneth tells you, '<player>, Valkoth has spoken with you of our discovery and I have spoken further with Karane about the tale of Kallinoth. In addition, the Council has advised me on the nature of the Realms. But, there was one piece of information we did not share with you... until now. --more--'

Semeneth tells you, 'Valkoth and I interrogated Balennos and Relstaroth further about their companion. Eventually some of their memory returned, though not all. Aratanosh, you see, was known as a Master Crystalshaper. --more--'

Semeneth tells you, 'Relstaroth eventually spoke of Aratanosh in the old days, how her passion for shaping crystals drove her to new heights and that her work was considered the greatest any Dragon had ever done. --more--'

Semeneth tells you, 'Balennos, on the other claw, says that he spoke with her just before he and Relstaroth returned. And that she spoke of her fears, that all knowledge had been lost, or that it would be because the remaining Dragons were not what they once were. She left his company and was not seen again before he returned to the Prime. --more--'

Semeneth tells you, 'It is clear to us, <player>, that Aratanosh may yet live and that we must strive to find her and recover this lost knowledge! To reach her you must create a Stone of Seeking. This will allow you to Transition into the Realm of Fire and locate the Elder we seek.'
