Journal of Falinthris

At Finagle Biggletorque's direction you located an artifact known as a key that he believes will let you open these chests other Gifted have been finding in the deeps. He now sends you back into the darkness to find a chest and try the key while he studies the other you found in the hopes that he can learn how to make more.

Quest text[edit]

Hoy there, <player>, come closer! Its time to give that key you found a solid test. Descend back into the darkness of Dralnok's Doom and locate a chest. Use the key and let's hope to Istara that it works! Be sure and come back here once you've found and opened (or failed to open) a chest and let me know what happened and what you found within.

Locate and Open a Tier 6 Chest within Dralnok's Doom using the Odd-Shaped Key (Note: Ancient Chests outside the Myloc Colony won't count)

Game Feedback: You've successfully opened a chest using the odd-shaped key!

Game Feedback: You find a strange key in the chest.

Game Feedback: You find an old journal. It is worn and slightly moldy after staying underground so long.

Rummage in the chest to find anything of interest

Game Feedback: You have found two items standing out in this chest. Bring them back to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath.

Welcome back, <player>. Tell me all about your adventure into the caverns. What happened, what did you find?

  • <You tell him all about the chest and the keys>

By Istara's Gears! This is wonderful news. Wait... was there something else?

  • I also found another key and a journal.

Game Feedback: He hops up and down excitedly as if to demonstrate how excited he truly is.

You did? Most intriguing, <player>. May I see the key?

  • Certainly.

Curious. This one is strangely shaped too. I am glad you have a measure of success. I'm afraid to say that I haven't made much progress on the key you found in Gregory's Study. I have determined that it is made of Adamantium and that it appears to be magically imbued, but I have discerned nothing else about its nature or about how to make a new skeleton key. What of this journal?

  • Here you are.

Game Feedback: He looks over the key with a critical eye.

This journal you found... It contains what on the surface looks like gibberish. But the markings on the cover, I would guess they are of Fiendish origin which means that the contents are probably encrypted.

  • Encrypted?

Game Feedback: He thumbs through the pages.

Not familiar with that word? It is something that the Fiends are fond of, being so secretive and all. You take words and you apply what is called a cipher that makes the text unreadable or, in this case gibberish, to anyone who doesn't know the key.

  • Sounds strange.

Indeed. Ciphers and encryption are only something the Fiends would create. Hm. Wait a moment...

  • What is it?

Return to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath with word of the Chest and what you found inside

There is a name here in the corner of this journal page... Falinthris. It has the ring of familiarity to me, but I cannot place it. Given how long the caverns have been closed, it is hard to say how old this journal might be. Centuries perhaps. We may never discover what it says or why it was inside a locked chest with another mysterious key.
