It is clear now that the source of the corruption on the Chiconis Battlefield is being generated by something outside of the battlefield. But what and who is causing the corruption remains a mystery!
Quest Text[edit]
Kaliphar tells you, <player>, I believe it is time to seek outside assistance in this matter. There is one to whom you should speak! His name is Barin and he is a Watcher. You will find him atop the Cleric's Tower, a naka structure to the south near the tail of the Granitefall Mountains. Seek Barin out and tell him of this foul corruption!
Barin tells you, Greetings, <player>, what brings you to my lofty perch? The spirits of the fallen dead are being corrupted you say? The Withered Aegis forever seeks out new sources for their abominable armies and it appears they have set their sights on the hallowed battlefields once more.
Barin tells you, Kaliphar was right to send you to me, <player>, for I have studied the naka below for some time. These naka study the ways of energies that are often in direct opposition to those of the Withered Aegis. Nay, not the Blight but rather the Necromantic energies that fuels the undead hordes the Living Races have faced for decades.
Barin tells you, The naka that live in this tower study the energies of life and of healing, <player>, and by watching them I glean knowledge that even we, the mightiest race, sometimes overlook. Yes, it is true, for we are still fallable and imperfect.
Barin tells you, I suspect the source of the corruption is a magical node that lies not far to the north and west known as the Dead Pool. A foul location, this pool, and one that the humans have coveted for centuries. Long ago a temple was built there and the humans drew energy from the node. And now the Withered Aegis have claimed it!
Barin tells you, If there is corruption on the peninsula, it is because of the agents of the Withered Aegis who operate in this fetid location, <player>. And so it is there that you must seek your answers. Let me consider this for a moment. Gather yourself, <player>, for your most difficult task yet lies ahead.
