A phylactery must represent its user in both body and soul. While the crystal will represent your spirit, your body will be represented by the gold clasp that contains it.

Semeneth tells you, In addition to the crystal vessel that will represent your spirit, a component is needed to represent your body. This is a golden clasp, which fits around the crystal in the final product. You will need to create three tines out of hardened gold, each with different properties and etchings upon its surface, and most particularly a different etched gem embedded, before the clasp itself can be completed.
Semeneth tells you, A dragon is, in truth, a combination of three colors, the mixture of which determines one's true temperament. Red represents the heart, which is strength. A strong dragon can resist all adversity and demonstrates impressive determination. Blue represents the head, which is intelligence. An intelligent dragon can solve complex problems in a flash, and convince others of their views. Finally, green represents our wings, or balance. A balanced dragon demonstrates superior judgement, always knowing the truest path.
Semeneth tells you, The gold clasp represents one's bodily attributes in the phylactery, while the orb contains your spirit. This is why the clasp wraps itself about the orb, it is not merely a method of protection, it is symbolic of the way your body envelopes your mind right now. Each of the tines on the clasp is inset with a gem representing your physical attributes -- this is what ties you to it.
Semeneth tells you, Your first step will be to acquire three small gems, which represent these three facets -- a ruby, a sapphire, and an emerald. These should be of a particular shape. I will help you obtain your first gem, the tapered ruby. The ruby represents the heart, or strength. It is what gives us the courage to stand up for our ideals, to fight for our beliefs, and the determination to work towards them. I ask that you prove your courage against a strong foe before I give you the item.
Semeneth tells you, You must face and defeat the being known as "Storm's Shadow", a fierce werewolf. Be warned, he is stronger than most of his kind, and gifted in the use of electricity. You may find him in among the great oak trees, of The Middling Lands, north of The Long Walk. The shadow is very restless and tends to wander the forest, it is rumored the treants there have grown accustomed his presence and may not take kindly to your presence there, <player>.
The enormous wolf falls, and you pluck a few hairs from it as proof of your mettle. Now to speak to Semeneth..
Semeneth tells you, Very good, hatchling. Storm's Shadow is a powerful opponent, one known far and wide. Your strength is clearly considerable, and thus I award you with this tapered ruby. However, you'll still be needing the emerald, and that leads in a different direction. Travel southwest from Chiconis along the road, and seek a man named Theed, in a hut on the edge of the forest. When you have completed Theed's task, you need not return to me. Make your way to speak to Lantenal the Hermit again and work with him to obtain the final gem, the tapered sapphire.

Theed tells you, Good day to you, dragon. I provide a small favor to Semeneth by posing appropriate questions to those who wish to earn a tapered emerald. You see, the emerald represents your wings, young one, and thus your balance. I choose to test your balance by asking you to make a decision. Left, right, or center.
Theed tells you, The balance of reasons and logic is a concept alien to the lower races of wolves, beetles, and other animals. Decisions are the thing which binds all higher races together -- men, dragons, and everything between. You and I are members of a very small collection of creatures blessed with this ability.
Theed tells you, I recently recovered this ring. It was stolen by some lower creature from Kendra, an occupant of Kion. You may note it is of significant value. I ask that you make a decision, as there is some moral quandary here, I believe. On one hand, I have just given it to you. You may simply add it to your hoard, destroy it, sell it, or do whatever you wish. You have considerably more experience than me, and there is little I could do. You may purchase it from me if you wish, I would accept 10 silver bars as a purchase price. The third option should be apparent.
Theed tells you, Make your decision, then speak with me again. I will then present you with the three choices. Let me be very clear, though. You may only pick one of the three.

- Defeat Storm's Shadow. Storm's Shadow roams the oak forests north of The Long Walk and is said to be protected by the oak treants that also inhabit that forest.
- You can reach him easily by porting to Sanctuary, Heather or Granite Hills.

- Semeneth has directed you to a man named Theed. He is said to live somewhere south west of Chiconis along the road in a hut near the edge of the forest.
