Quest text[edit]

Kalas tells you, So now it is that I am almost done with my story, <player>. But now I must send you to see what was inevitably in my future so that you may understand more of my story. You will not need to go far.

Kalas tells you, To find it, leave this house through the front gate, but then turn around and run up a hill behind my home to your right. There you will find the answer.

You find a headstone here for an old grave, though the name has been chipped off by a chisel. It is as if someone--or many--wanted to forget this person..

Kalas tells you, Inevitably, all things die. I sent you to where I was buried, and someday you will die and be lain to rest in your own grave. You say you are "Gifted"? This term is new to me.

Kalas tells you, So to be Gifted means that you cannot truly die, and many are like you? Bah. For the sake of this lesson, assume you can die forever. It will make it much easier on my mind, <player>.

Kalas tells you, To continue my story: There came a point when the saris of Kion had enough of the misery inflicted upon them. I was exiled from Kion--and no other city would take me! I was forced to select this remote place and had this house built to live out my last miserable days.

Kalas tells you, I lived here alone in a tent while I built this house, with only my ill-gained wealth as a companion. Only days after I had finished and moved into my home, I died in it. It would seem, too, that Kion was keeping an eye on me and just waiting for that moment as well. They buried me over there, made sure my name was struck out, and returned everything that I hadn't nailed to the floor to the families that actually owned them.

Kalas tells you, So it is, <player>, that the meaning of my story is to embrace kindness, even when life pains you so. Have good spirit, generosity, and love. Do not do as I did and forge chains for yourself, lest you die alone with no hope of ever resting peacefully. My house is my prison, where I lie in chains made from my sins. You are still alive and have time to make things right, where I ran out of it.

Kalas tells you, I am glad to see you might be taking this lesson to heart, <player>. You are also the first person to sit down and talk to me. If I were alive, I would have had a warm fire and tea for you... Although admittedly I probably would have changed my mind and left you to freeze while I made a cup for myself. I suppose I have one thing left to thank you with for listening to me.

Kalas tells you, I left some of my possessions in a chest I had hidden under the floor downstairs--the looters didn't find it, thus it remained here. Before you go to talk to the gnomes, look for a loose floor tile downstairs. What you find there is yours to keep. It should help you with the cold outside. As for the house, it is free to use as long as they keep it in good repair for me and don't mind my staying in the attic.

You have found the loose floor tile Kalas mentioned! You empty the chest hidden there of its contents before returning it to its hiding place..

You have received 1 Winter Coat.

You have received 1 Dragon’s Gnomekindle Scarf.

Mayor tells you, You couldn't get the ghost to leave, <player>? Oh, he can't leave? Not even a little bit? That's a shame. But if what you tell me is all true, his story and the lesson he holds is true to the Gnomekindle spirit! Since he sounds harmless, I guess we can finish getting some of the decorating done inside. Thank you, <player>!
