Manilius had two sons but only one remains. His other son was killed while exploring the forest and he would like you to avenge his son's death and help bring peace to his son's spirit and Manilius' tortured mind.

Quest text[edit]

Manilius tells you, <player>, you have helped my son Caepio and for that you have my thanks. I once had two sons and they were as different as the night is from the day. Where Caepio is steadfast and truthworthy, but often forgetful, Gaius... *he takes a deep breath* Gaius was brave, inquisitive, and energetic. He explored the forest and beyond! A spear, bow or sword in his hand was as natural as a tree-axe or smithing hammer is to me.

Manilius tells you, A year or more ago my sons ventured into the forest together; Caepio was ever at his brother's heels. This time, however, only Caepio returned home. Blood-splattered and nearly incoherent it was more than a day before we could get the story from him. A Bloodsnout, <player>, gored my son Gaius! Wolves, undead, even those blasted golems up north couldn't stop my son, but a pig... A pig killed my son!

Manilius tells you, I need you to kill this pig, <player>. For my peace of mind and for that of my family I need you to do this for me. We are calling this creature the Blood Pig for the blood of my son that it spilled. Unfortunately, neither my wife nor I know where my son fell. Only Caepio knows and he has not spoken of that day in well over a year. Speak with him now, my friend, and help bring peace back to my home.

Caepio tells you, You spoke with my father about Gaius? *he grimaces, pain evident on his face* Yes, I remember the day vividly. How could I ever forget it? Gaius was always exploring the forest, <player>. A great hunter, warrior, he could do anything he put his mind to. That day we woke up early and he begged me to go with him. "I've found something I want you to see," he said excitedly.

Caepio tells you, So, I tagged along. It was always hard to say no to my brother. His enthusiasm was contagious! Deep into the forest we went, dodging the treants and the oastics until at last we came upon the ruins of a village. I do not know how long it has been there, <player>. Decades, I would think. There among the ruins he had found a cache of jewelry, perhaps buried by the former residents in the hopes they might one day return. Or even buried to keep it from being plundered by those who may have attacked the village so long ago.

Caepio tells you, It gored him, <player>. *he sobs* There was so much blood and I was so scared! I shot an arrow at the beast and it turned and fled at our cries. The damage, however, was done. My brother died in my arms, the chest of jewels forgotten. I buried him there for I could not carry him home, not and ensure my own safety. Bark and branch, I miss my brother greatly, I wish he had never found the village or that blasted chest! If you find it you can have it all, <player>, I want none of its contents! They are tainted in my eyes.

You have slain the Blood Pig! Return to Manilius Bruttien and tell him of the deed..

Manilius tells you, You have slain the pig, <player>? Thank Golden Galderos and Alyssa of the Wood! I feel as if a weight has been lifted from my heart and for that you have my gratitude. My wife and I will remember you always, my friend. Please, this isn't much but please take it as compensation for the friendship you have shown my family.
