Quest text[edit]

When you came to me last, <player>, I broke a personal rule of mine in order to get what I wanted. Instead of requiring you to carry out the proper task to earn my teaching, I let you do me a simple favor. Well, if you've come back here to ask for more training, you had better be prepared to work for it. I haven't given you a hard job yet, so this time I'm giving you a job I don't think even I can do. If you succeed, I'll educate you further in the intricacies of primal magic. There is also a bounty on the two items I'll have you collect, which I will split with you - evenly, as much as I hate to do it. I can't seem to find anyone else to help me, you see.

Ice Gnawer, a unique giant ice beetle, and Flamentus, a particularly despicable flame beetle, have been making a certain Gifted adventurer's life very difficult. Due to a confidentiality agreement I can't disclose this person's name, however they are willing to pay very good coin to not only see these two beasts exterminated, but also to have trophies from the fight proving that they themselves defeated the foes.

In short, destroy Ice Gnawer and return with his glacial carapace, then exterminate Flamentus and return with his flame gullet.

Game Feedback: Lisandia looks distressed, disgusted, and angry. She is pacing and clearly is in no mood for tutoring someone.

Game Feedback: At last, both foes have been defeated and you have secured your trophies. These foes were unlike many of those you faced before. At times, they seemed to be laughing at you. Inevitably, however, your prowess in battle and draconic will prevailed. This is a tale to be told for years to come. Return to Lisandia with your prizes. Well, they ARE your prizes - for now, anyway. Enjoy them while you can.

Return to Lisandia with your prizes.

Consider me duly impressed. I thought I'd have to write you off, not only as a student, but also as a fine mercenary. You did indeed manage to get both items as requested, which surely means those - things - are dead. Here is your cut. Now, for your lesson. I have a tome which was left to me by Helian herself. I've marked a section for you to read. Take your time, meditate on her words, and I'm sure the insights within will open the doors of your mind, just as it did for me. Wind to thy wings, <player>. I'm off to meet with the client and get my payment.

Oh, and needless to say, don't even think of taking off with that book. I will kill you in ways that would give even General Lunus second thoughts. Enjoy your lesson!

Game Feedback: As you open this old tome a smell of aged paper and dust fills the chamber. It is truly an honor to gaze upon the writings of a wyrm as old as Helian, a faction founder no less. Within this old tome are the secrets of channeling primal energies. No minor details are overlooked. You understand how to delicately cut a gem as well as punish foes with waves of force. This new respect and understanding leaves you feeling both introspective and a little overwhelmed.

Steps[edit]

  • Kill Ice Gnawer. He roams in the Glacier Canyon. You can reach the canyon from the nearest portal, Winter Vale portal or by flight.
  • Kill Flamentus. He can be found on the Isle of Fire.
  • Return to Lisandia with your prizes.
