Quest text[edit]

Talarintesh tells you, Welcome, little Naka. I have heard of you. Surprised? You should not be, for your name is spoken of by many these days. One of the Gifted who grows in power and prestige!

Talarintesh tells you, Do you know where we stand? On the very ground where once, millennia ago, the renegade sorcerer, Nazderon, built a great city with magic stolen from Dragonkind.

Talarintesh tells you, Have you heard of it? No? Oh, there is a tale to tell... More than a millennia ago, Nazderon, a human, was taught magic in secret by one of the greatest Primalists Dragonkind has ever known, Mellohndar. The act was forbidden, for our secrets and knowledge are not meant to be known by the Naka, and both would likely have been killed had they been discovered, but they persisted nonetheless.

Talarintesh tells you, Mellohndar was enamored of humans for they, as a species, are quick to learn and have a continual thirst for knowledge... and, as it turns out, power. Nazderon learned all that Mellohndar would teach him, but still desired more. In his lust for power, he stole knowledge from the great Primalist's private chambers and fled.

Talarintesh tells you, Nazderon returned to his people in the desert where we now stand and, using the stolen knowledge, led them in a revolt against their rulers. As their new king, he directed them to construct a great city with soaring pyramids, temples and thick walls. In a twisted bit of irony, he named the grand city after his former teacher and it thrived for many years.

Talarintesh tells you, Mellohndar, however, had not been sitting back quietly on his haunches while this occurred. His mistake was grave, yes, but he claimed responsibility for it and endured many years of heated debates over the future fate of these renegades In the end, Mellohndar was given permission to gather a great army and with it he attacked the city that Nazderon had built.

Talarintesh tells you, The battles that were fought were tremendous and destructive for there was powerful magic upon both sides, but Mellohndar and his army triumphed, of course. The city's towers and walls were thrown down, its temples burned, and the renegades who had flocked to Nazderon's banner were killed or scattered.

Talarintesh tells you, Why do I tell you of this, you ask? The ruins are here and so are the relics and artifacts of those ancient days. I see opportunity for study and perhaps profit if you can collect items from the ruins. Can you do this, <player>?

Talarintesh tells you, Good. Yes, look at the quality of these items. The magic is still strong within them even after more than a thousand years, can you feel it? See here, some are even blackened by fire. For a naka, you have exceeded my expectations. Thank you, <player>.
