Building a plot or lair is one of the most impressive features in Istaria. Plots and lairs in Istaria are not instanced like in most common MMORPGs. What you build is available on the live realm where every player is able to visit. A lot of players build plots and lairs near resource fields, providing silos and workshops which help the community to gather and refine resources. It's on the plot owners decision to set the rights of structures to be locked, open or to be usable by their guild only - it may also be used by friends enlisted for the spot.

Communities like Harro, Heather, Mithril's Anvil or Drakul provide plots and lairs of different sizes and prices. Around 1.800 plots and lairs are available all around Istaria. Building your own home, castle, industry zone or a whole town with your guild takes alot of time and effort to finish. You may even place money offers on unfinished structures to pay unknown builders if you would like to speed up the building process.

The five builder schools Carpenter, Enchanter, Fitter, Mason and Weaver are used to build all the structure parts. If one mastered all of them to level 100, he may gain the Master Builder Emblem.
