Java seems to be missing[edit]

If you encounter the error to the right, your Java may not be installed correctly and Companion can't start. In that case, please return to the main site and download the version including Java.

Companion fails to start with an error[edit]

If you encounter an error looking like the one to the right, Companion needs write access to it's install folder. You can achieve this with the following steps:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Browse to the install directory of Istaria Companion. If you didn't choose another when installing, this should be
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Istaria Companion
  3. Right click 'Istaria Companion.exe', then select 'Properties'
  4. Select the 'Compatibility' folder
  5. Check 'Run this program as administrator'
  6. Confirm by pressing the 'OK' Button

After that the program should start fine. Alternatively you can install the program to a different folder, outside of Window's standard program folders. There you won't need to provide administrator rights.

I get an error 13 when starting Companion[edit]

This indicates that the Java version is a wrong one (maybe a too old version or a 32bit one). Please download the installer including java and install again.
