Balennos tells you, My master, Relstaroth, has said that you appear to be doing well in the infancy of your Lairshaping skills. Certainly you have proven that you are able to follow simple instruction. That is good, for I will have more for you.

Balennos tells you, Now, I will tell you of the Azulyte Crystals that are used in Crystal Shaping. I have been told these crystals have not been seen in Istaria for centuries. For what reason I am do not know. An ebb in the flow of primal energy perhaps, or an aftereffect of the closing of the Gate of Embers? A philosopher might know better than I. What I do know is that when I returned from the Realm of Earth to begin exploring this world I sensed the veins of Azulyte Crystals growing just beneath the surface of the lands. I endeavored to uncover them, for you will have need of these crystals in your training.

Balennos tells you, No doubt you are wondering just what these Azulyte Crystals might be. Well, they are rare crystal formations imbued with the primal energies of the earth. Many varieties appear, each taking on different shades, but all varieties of Azulyte Crystal are always found in clusters, on the ground, and are harvested in an unfocused form. More than collecting these crystals, however, you must concern yourself with crafting them into more focused and useful forms. To do that, you will use this formula. Now, let us see if you can follow directions.

Balennos tells you, Take this formula and create 20 focused Viridian azulyte crystals before returning to me. Viridian crystals are the weakest variety of Azulyte Crystal, which allows them to be more easily crafted. I have located formations of Viridian to the Southwest of here, on the island known as Lesser Aradoth. Viridian crystals only grow near large sources of power, so search for them in and around the volcano.

Balennos tells you, Good, good. Now you are familiar with Azulyte Crystals. These crystals that you have crafted are sufficient for now. I can tell that you understand the principles, but you still need experience to allow you to create more powerfully shaped crystals. Do not fret, for your skills will grow with time. Now, return to my master again, when you are ready.
