Quest text[edit]

Avariatus tells you, I am glad to hear that you wish to learn more about the Lunus faction, <player>. There is much about our people that is hard to understand and difficult to tell. You see, long before the naka-duskael built cities and covered the lands, we Dragons ruled both land and sky. All naka were subservient to our desires and our rule was unquestioned and absolute.

Avariatus tells you, As with all things, however, that time came to an end. We grew complacent in our ways and our dealings with the Lesser Races, and through our generosity they grew unchecked and emboldened. Eventually they began making demands of us, making war on us, and it was then that we realized something had to be done!

Avariatus tells you, There were two schools of thought among Dragonkind as to how we should deal with these upstart races. The first school was led by a great scholar named Helian. Helian believed that Dragons should seize the reigns of leadership and lead all races into the future. The second school was led by a great military leader by the name of Malganival Lunus.

Avariatus tells you, Lunus believed that Dragonkind should lead by force as they had in centuries past. That Dragons were predatory and should lead through strength and terror. Lunus and other Dragons believed that the ascension of the Lesser Races was a threat to Dragon civilization itself and could not be tolerated.

Avariatus tells you, While our people debated the humans grew more and more numerous and more demanding. Eventually our society cracked under the strain and centuries of debate, resulting in what is now known as the Great Schism. The Great Schism led to the formation of what are now known as the Lunus and Helian factions. It also led to the willing exile of some of our people from our homeland near Dralk, to a new city far to the south known as Chiconis. To this day, the debate which sparked the Great Schism still rages among the scholars and warriors of our race.

Avariatus tells you, With the rise of the Withered Aegis and the fall of Rachival and then Feladan, the Lunus chose at first to ignore the threat posed by the Undead Hordes and the Withered Aegis. But eventually, as the terrible armies gathered outside the city of Tazoon, the Lunus gathered their forces together and moved to support the Living Races. As the leaders of the time put it, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Better to support the Humans and other races than to watch all of civilization fall into ruin.

Avariatus tells you, The Dragons that choose to follow the path of Lunus typically favor strength and power. It is with strength and power in mind that I wish you to meditate before the shrine here in New Trismus. Do this and I shall assist you in the making of a Chest Scale imbued with the properties of a follower of Lunus.

You have arrived at the Shrine. Though the shrine has been burned in recent attacks, it still remains as a place for meditation. Meditate here upon the nature of the Lunus belief that Avariatus spoke of.

You have meditated upon the nature of the Lunus faction and its beliefs. Return to Avariatus with any insight you may have gleaned.

Avariatus tells you, Ah, good, you have returned from your meditation. Now that you have had time to reflect upon the strength and power of our people, let us proceed. Bring me a Bronze Dexterity Chest Scale and I will imbue it with the properties of a follower of Lunus.

Avariatus tells you, Fine work young dragon! The skill of dexterity is one of the basic properties of Tooth & Claw and will serve you well in your pursuit of power and the warrior. Give me a few minutes to imbue the scale and then return here to me.

Avariatus has likely finished imbuing the Dexterity Scale by now. Return and collect it!

Avariatus tells you, Here you are, <player>. I call this an Imitation Tempered Scale for it contains the properties of Tooth & Claw and is no longer a simple Dexterity Scale. When you grow more stronger and powerful and wish to learn more of the Lunus faction, seek out one by the name of Vladtmordt. He will teach you more and perhaps manifest a more potent version for you. Until that day I bid thee good tidings.

You have received 1 Imitation Tempered Chest Scale.
