Continuing with his research, Balit is in need of components that cannot be found on the island. He has prepared a list of them for you and asks that you collect them so that he can develop a potential cure for lycanthropy.

Quest text[edit]

I have inspected the infected tissues you brought me and completed Allot's notes. I think I should be able to find a cure for lycanthropy now. Or at least a way to resist it. However, I don't have access to many resources on this island...

  • Maybe I could bring you what you need?

You would do this for me? Oh! That is excellent, indeed! Now, there are quite a few components so I will list each of them out for you... I am not sure where you can get each one so you will need to determine that for yourself. Please, take this list.

Speak with Balit

Gather these and then return here to me. I will continue my research so that I will be ready once you do. Go now, and good luck to you!

Collect the ingredients Balit asked you for. You can loot them, craft them, or trade them with a Consigner or a player of your choice.

Game Feedback: You have found all the components Balit asked you for. Return to him on Balit's Island and don't forget to bring back the list.

Acquire 10 Bright Essence Orbs

Game Feedback: You have acquired sufficient Bright Essence Orbs.

Acquire 5 Bright Kinetic Suspensions

Game Feedback: You have acquired sufficient Bright Kinetic Suspensions.

Acquire 10 Silver Powder samples

Game Feedback: You have acquired sufficient Silver Powder.

Acquire 2 Cobalt Golem Fragments

Game Feedback: You have acquired sufficient Cobalt Golem Fragments.

Acquire 2 Topaz Golem Chips

Game Feedback: You have acquired sufficient Topaz Golem Chips.

Return to Balit with the requested components. Be sure to keep the list with you, as Balit will need it back to be able to double check that you have everything.

You have them all? Most impressive, <player>! Now, let me work on this for a short while and then return here and I should have something for you to test.

Wait a moment for Balit to complete the salve

Game Feedback: Balit has likely finished his work by now.

Ah, good, there you are. Excellent timing, as always, <player>. Now, here is the first trial...

According to Allot's notes, werewolves dislike silver. I have a good hope a salve with a silver base could make you resistant to their attacks.

  • How could he be sure of this?

By luck, actually. He related in his journal that he was hiding in a place where a few items from the wreckage were washed up. A werewolf attacked him by surprise. Instinctively, he grabbed the first item near him and hit the werewolf in a desperate attempt to defend himself.

At contact, the werewolf screamed and ran away.

  • Was he lucky enough to find a weapon?

Not at all: it was a simple ladle made of silver. The werewolf should have barely felt it, but it was efficient. He believed the beast was scared by this metal. I also felt uneasy when you handed me the Silver Powder... so, it should be correct.

Return to speak with Balit

Here you go. This should make you resistant to attacks by werewolves. Please, go field test it.

Game Feedback: He applies a salve to your body. You feel a slight tingling sensation that quickly spreads throughout your body and then fades immediately.

Kill enough werewolves on Balit's Island to test Balit's salve efficiency

Game Feedback: You have slain enough werewolves. Return to Balit as soon as possible with the trial results.

Kill three (3) Lesser Werewolves

Game Feedback: This seems to be sufficient Lesser Werewolves for reliable results.

Kill two (2) Greater Werewolves

Game Feedback: This seems to be sufficient Greater Werewolves for reliable results.

Welcome back, <player>. Tell me if my salve worked!

  • Actually, it was worse with it. They seemed more powerful.

Return to Balit with the results

It what? It caused you to be MORE affected by the werewolves? Oh, that isn't good at all. I am sorry, <player>. That was not my goal, I promise. I must have reversed the order of the components or have added the wrong quantities. Let me try again. Please give me another moment to prepare a new salve.

Wait longer for Balit to complete the salve

Game Feedback: Balit has likely finished the salve by now.

Speak with Balit again. Hopefully this time the salve will work right.

Here we go. Don't worry, <player>, this one is correct. I had indeed reversed the order of the components on the last batch. Test this one same as before and let me know its effects.

Game Feedback: He applies a salve to your body. As before, a slight tingling sensation spreads quickly throughout your body, but this time takes several moments to fade.

Go to the field and test the new version of the salve

Game Feedback: The fights were easier this time. Return to Balit to tell him.

Kill three (3) Lesser Werewolves

Game Feedback: This seems to be sufficient Lesser Werewolves for reliable results.

Kill two (2) Greater Werewolves

Game Feedback: This seems to be sufficient Greater Werewolves for reliable results.

Ah, there you are! So how did the new salve fare?

  • The salve didn't protect me, but my attacks were more efficient.

Return to Balit with the results

Well, sadly it is not a cure, but it is a start. It turned out to be something useful in battle at least. I have prepared these bottles of salve with what was left in the cauldron. Please accept them, they will help you against werewolves.
