Quest text[edit]

Listen to Periado's history lesson, and the task he has set forth for you

Welcome, young one. It's been a while since I had the pleasure of helping train a new generation in the art of combat. Sit and rest a while, I have much wisdom to impart. As you may have noticed, I am an old drake, and wounded no less. When I was but a little older than you are now, my wings and forelimbs were injured in battle. That was nearly eight hundred years ago, during the razing of Barasavus. It was a glorious battle, and General Malganival was puissance incarnate. Upon the day of our victory, I was wounded gravely, but the General himself saved me. He saw to the care of the wounded personally, for he hated to see even a single soldier perish. He cheered us on, told us jokes to keep our spirits up, and motivated us to push through the pain. He was a great leader, and a true friend...

Game Feedback: Periado looks past you for a moment, seeming lost in thought.

Ahem. As I was saying, the destruction of Barasavus was fated to be my last battle. Tragic, really, though the General wouldn't let me despair or think myself useless. No! He came to me while I was recovering and, despite the pain, I stood tall for my commander. He poured us each a drink from his personal stock of Dwarven whiskey, then charged me with the most important task I could ever have been given. The General wished me to reside in Dralk, to enjoy my life, and spend the rest of my days training all dragons, Lunus and Helian alike, to fight! No dragon will live in a time of peace. We are all warriors and protectors, despite what many Lunus think. Now, <player>, stand tall before me and be proud, for we are the hope of all dragonkind!

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We are the ones who will send the Withered Aegis back to wherever it is they come from. We shall lead by example and by Drulkar's righteous might, we will prevail! Are you with us, young one? Do you want to learn to fight and maim and kill with the best of us? Well, do you? Say it! I can't hear you, maggot! Say it like you mean it! SAY IT!!!

That's more like it! And do not call me 'Sir', I work for a living! Now before I teach you anything, you must prove your mettle. Few trainers have the sense to send you against our greatest foes, but I'll not overlook them. Go forth to the Dead Pool by Chiconis and lay twenty-five undead to rest. Any undead will do, but make sure they pay! You need bring me no proof. I'll trust your word that they fell prey to you. You have your orders! Get a move on! Move it, move it, move it!

Kill twelve (12) undead at the Dead Pool. Hint: The Dead Pool is found south and west of Chiconis or just north of Slate Crest. Any undead there will count.

Game Feedback: This is what bards mean when they sing of the horrors of war. You have won the day! Now, return to Periado before reinforcements arrive.

Return to Periado and tell him of your glorious fight!

Very well done <player>. You've made me proud. General Malganival would be proud as well. We'll talk more at a later date. Now, come spar with me, and remember that pain is just fear leaving your body...

Game Feedback: Periado moves like an angel of death. His pain is evident even when sparring but he doesn't let it slow him down. This is truly his calling, and when the lesson ends, you feel stronger.
