Grizelian the Primalist believes you have nearly reached the pinnacle of mastery over the Primal magics of Istaria. He has come up with a challenge, a test that you must pass in order to truly be considered and acknowledged as a Primal Master.

Ah <player>, it is most fortuitous that you arrive now. When last we spoke, we talked of evolution. Magic, like everything else, evolves. Yes, <player>, that means I've more to teach you! It came to me in a vision, late one evening, like a waterfall of ancient lore raining down upon me. It is my duty and my pleasure to share this with all my peers. Only one question remains: Have you the sanctity of mind necessary to absorb this wisdom?
I suspected you did. Even so, I am still pleased with your response. <player>, no wisdom comes without a price. Today, that price is a challenge, a test that I will lay before you. Complete it and the knowledge and perhaps wisdom will be yours.
Deep in the Eastern Deadlands, near the top of a hill that looks down upon the Barrier Vale, reside the last of the Withered Scales. These fallen dragons and naka-duskael are led by a powerful and dangerous general known as Reklar Plaguebearer. It is said that they guard or reside in a mighty fortress, though few who have ventured there have returned, so the truth of the matter is unclear.
Reklar himself is too powerful to confront, but his followers are another matter entirely. Travel to this distant hill, <player>, and defeat several of the fallen that patrol the fortress boundaries.
Travel to the southern end of the Barrier Vale and defeat five (5) Fallen Dragons or Warriors
Game Feedback: Your final blow tears the poor cursed body asunder. You feel a sense of peace wash over you, a moment of freedom and release.
Recover the Strange Shard from the Corpse of one of the Fallen

Return to Grizelian with the Strange Shard
Good, <player>, you have returned. I had begun to worry that the Withered Scales may have gotten the best of you. What is it you have there?
Steps[edit]
- Listen to Grizelian
- Travel to the southern end of the Barrier Vale and defeat five (5) Fallen Dragons or Warriors
- Recover the Strange Shard from the Corpse of one of the Fallen
- Return to Grizelian with the Strange Shard
