This rather odd couple of adventurers is sympathetic to your needs but they also seek a favor. They want the Scorpion Emperor freed from his madness. His chitin also may be useful in creating some sort of container for the beetle acid.

Quest text[edit]

Speak with Rengarth

You actually burned a hole in the floor? Oh, I'm sure Tylangan wasn't happy about that at all. So you need a better container for Brachina Beetle acid. Dreadful creatures aren't they? Yet, I can't hold too much ill will towards one of Alyssa's children. They too serve a purpose. Though it may seem they only exist to make traveling underground treacherous, they truly do help loosen soil for deep roots to grow. They also clean up carrion and I suspect keep the scorpions in check to some degree. Also seems they exist to help augment a dragon's breath attacks. I digress, we druids tend to be preachy about nature don't we? You need our help holding such acid and help you shall receive! Right Rengarth?

Game Feedback: Rengarth nods in agreement when addressed and beckons you closer.

Hello. You need our help yes? Then you shall have it. You freed Empytur, Alyssa's Guardian, from its plight. We thank you. In exchange I will tell you how to get the item we require.

Go deep into Dralnok's Doom beneath Delgarath. There you will find a mighty scorpion named Zhaguxal. He has been trapped there and is furious. You see, he is too large to properly navigate the tunnels back out now. Likely Zhaguxal has gone mad, if you can ever call a scorpion sane that is. You'll have to end his life and take his back plates. These will let us create an item suitable to aid you. Aelthis likes to tell the tale, you are better off talking to her.

Game Feedback: Aelthis nods approvingly and takes a deep breath.

Speak with Aelthis

Yes what Rengarth says is true. You'll need his shell to hold that acid for any length of time. It's the hardest chitin we've ever encountered. We'll cast some spells upon it to imbue it with protective magic, with luck it should aid in counteracting the acidic power of a Brachina Beetle. Our mastery of the mystic arts will aid us greatly in that task. Zhaguxal is an ancient beast. The emperor to all scorpions. His vanguard, well, his chitin will serve us well. His purpose was supposedly to guard something. Through all of our research we've never determined what it was or why he fled into the labyrinth. Perhaps it sought answers to the very questions we ask today. The Gods and Godesses work in mysterious ways <player>. In any event, we need you to end his torment and release him mighty dragon. We were unable to do so. Seek him in the largest part of the natural cavern. Afterward, bring me the chitin and we shall make "Nature's Vanguard" a potent vessel for holding natural energies and reagents.

Game Feedback: Rengarth simply waves, smiles warmly, and points towards the travel gate.

Slay Zhaguxal, Scorpion Emperor.

Game Feedback: Bursting from its lair in the very cave floor a scorpion of titanic proportions strikes at you. Fury burns in its eyes and a dark cloud of hatred permeates the area. It's time to fight or take to the skies.

Loot his "Vanguard", also known as his chitin.

Game Feedback: Though maddened by being trapped here for so long, a serene quality passes over your foe in its final moments. Collapsing to the floor Zhaguxal is gone. It is hard not to liken such a powerful ancient foe to the eldest of dragons. Quickly you shuck the majority of its chitin from its back. It is time to help ensure the dominance of your race.

Return to Aelthis with the chitin of Zhaguxal.

By all that is sacred in Auberdine! You actually did it. There is no room for modesty today <player>. I'm sure Drulkar would be pleased beyond belief with your fortitude, wisdom, and puissant skill in combat. I'm sure even Rengarth would be shocked into speaking if he would pick up his jaw. Thank you majestic dragon, may I have your trophy so that my friend and I might create the item you seek? This will only take a bit. In the mean time you may want to talk to Rengarth so that he can help me with this. It's huge!

Game Feedback: Rengarth slowly regains his composure and hurries off to claim several large decanters and glasses.

Speak with Rengarth

Evohe! Join me in a drink. Congratulations friend. Let me find a suitably large vessel for this concoction I made. Ah yes this should serve to suitably warm your belly. Aelthis share a glass with us, won't you? Perhaps a small one? Excellent. Let no one say Rengarth cannot celebrate properly when the time comes.

Yes congratulations are in order. Thank you <player>. Perhaps later I can venture into those caverns and ascertain why Zhaguxal went so deep into the cavern in the first place. I wish to know what it was guarding as well. Allow me to finish my drink and we shall imbue your hard earned trophy with our mystic arts. It shouldn't take long, here, enjoy the rest of my special cocktail, we'll be done before you know it. We'll speak again when we have finished.

Game Feedback: Aelthis takes a sip and declines any further merriment just yet as she readies herself to begin the ritual. When Rengarth finishes his glass he too begins to prepare for whatever spells they intend to cast. After tasting that brew, you've determined today may not be the best day to finish off the cask and decanters offered. Even dragons have their limits. With great flourish they begin a ritual imbuing the chitin with natural, spiritual, and a small touch of blighted energies.

Speak with Rengarth after he has finished casting the spells.

Tyalangan will create a vessel out of that chitin to hold the acid you require. Aelthis will explain more, I've a celebration to get back to.

Game Feedback: Rengarth returns to his deep thought. This time he accompanies it with sips of his special cocktail.

Speak with Aelthis to find what is needed to complete the modifications to the vessel.

It seems Rengarth likes you, he doesn't often share his company or his brews with outsiders.

Tyalangan and the two of us are kindred spirits. All of us know what it is to lose part of ourselves to the Withered Aegis. Together we seek to learn about the mysteries of the Prime in order to help defeat the undead horde. I'm talking your ear off again, aren't I? My apologies dragon, you still have much to do. Rengarth will need five travertine slabs and that beetle membrane you hold in order to coat the adamantium vial's interior that, as I understand it, he has imbued with Nature's Breath.

Here is a box of glass vials and a spare. I'm sure Kelakhan will be happy to receive the vials to replenish his supply. The spare is to place inside the receptacle we are creating to better condense the acid. Return to Rengarth with the supplies I have asked for.

Return to Rengarth with 5 Travertine Slabs, 1 Glass Vial, the Brachina Beetle Membrane, and an Imbued Adamantium Flask.

Everything looks to be in order. Allow me to unburden you of all those things you collected for me. Let us hope this works, otherwise, you are on your own friend. I will get down to business and create something no acid should be able to sizzle its way through. Go fetch Nature's Vanguard from Tyalangan, then we can finish this project up.

Speak with Tyalangan

I had to let Ciowiel, an outfitter friend of mine, help me with this, but I think I turned the Vanguard into a vessel capable of holding that acrid solution. I hope it can stand up to whatever Kelakhan does to it later. Here you are. Now let it be said that the elves of Feladan are friends to dragons or at the very least that I am. Good luck, you'll likely need it. Rengarth should be ready for you now. Wind to thy wings <player>.

Speak with Rengarth

Take this flask and place it into that, is that a beer stein? No matter it seems to be thick enough to serve its purpose. Speak with Aelthis so she may give it Alyssa's blessing and together she and I will imbue it with protections. I hope it works friend, may you forever lead in the dance of life.

Game Feedback: Rengarth strokes his beard clearly appreciating the aesthetic qualities of Nature's Vanguard.

Speak with Aelthis

The time has finally come then? Good, I am glad to finally repay all of your efforts. Praise be to Alyssa. Praise be to you <player>. May her blessing be upon this vessel and may its future contents serve you well. Give Kelekhan my regards. Take care of yourself dragon.

Game Feedback: After you place the flask into the flagon, Aelthis and Rengarth begin casting protection spells upon the container you now hold. They appear to be similar to the ones cast upon the gifted to defend against nature spells, hopefully they help.

Take the Vanguard of Nature's Breath to Kelakhan.

Finally you return! I had assumed you had forgotten all about helping me develop a new breath attack. I was about to give up, which would have upset me after what that acid did to my floor. What in Drulkar's name is that?!?

Give me a moment to examine that.. thing.. and then we can speak of what is next.
