Breath of Fire: Refining A Useful Weapon

Though you have been using a breath weapon of fire for quite some time now, Kelakhan believes that with the right ingredients he can create a potion for you to drink that will make your Breath of Fire even more potent.

Kelakhan tells you, Perhaps you will do, at that. I have an unusual request from a dragon named, oddly enough, Breath of Fire. It seems he wishes to acquire an unusual type of scale... and I have agreed to research its creation for him. Now, I suspect that the necessary elements are not currently available in this realm, but with your help I can confirm this. In exchange, I can provide you with my services in the creation of distilled fire, a liquid flame of such intensity that a dragon drinking it down, will strengthen one's ability to breathe fire.
Kelakhan tells you, That said, the first step is to speak to Hethsa, the spirit at the top of the Peak of Storms. I seek a rune called Ken Far. In the old tongue, this translates loosely to 'Flame Hungry,' and when etched upon the surface of a scale, grants that scale the ability to absorb flame. From this point the inclusion of another, appropriate rune can translate that energy into something else. All trace of this rune's design appears lost, and I hope to determine whether appearances do indeed match reality.
Hethsa tells you, You are seeking the shape of Ken Far? Though I know of the combination from old times, I'm afraid I was no scholar in the creation of scales. Such things as these elder runes may be lost for some time, as the only remnants may exist in the borderlands of this realm, where reality has grown soft and the land is not what it once was. With time it may stabilize, and at least in these lands no force actively seeks our destruction -- but no thinking being would dare travel there.
Hethsa tells you, Remnants may exist on the southern end of the island of Elnath, as these are the most recently retrieved of the current lands, or so I come to understand. Search the ruins you may find there... I expect you will find little, however.
Amidst the pillars, you see what appears to be a strange marking on the ground. Perhaps this rune is what Kelakhan seeks... you should return and describe it to him..
Kelakhan tells you, You did indeed find something? Fascinating, I truly did not expect anything to come of this errand. It will take some time and research to confirm the functionality of the shape, so please pardon me.
Kelakhan tells you, Oh, meanwhile, I suggest acquiring the materials I need to create your distilled fire. There are three -- firstly, the Essence of Fire, which acts as the bulk of the material. Secondly, a Splinter of Flame Bone, from the skeletons in the Western Deadlands. The Essence of Fire you will capture from dead Flame or Fire Blights which are also found in the Western Deadlands. The third item we'll discuss when you return. I may not have to send you for it if I can determine a good substitute.
You have located a splinter of bone. Return to Kelakhan with the splinter..
Having obtained the needed amount of Essence of Fire, it is time to return to Kelakhan..
Kelakhan tells you, Ah, you have the first two items I require? Good, good. I hope it was not too difficult to obtain them. Now, for the final component, I require a flask made of Elnathian Silver. I will forge the flask, but I would ask that you obtain the Elnathian Silver Bars for me, as I was unable to find a better substance that could withhold the heat that the final potion will give off.
Kelakhan tells you, You have not heard of Elnathian Silver? Odd, I thought all Gifted had. But then, I forget that the effort to release the Satyr was many years ago now and the ranks of the Gifted are not what they once were. Old faces leave, new faces arrive. No matter! Elnathian Silver is a rare silver ore that was once found on the Satyr Island of Elnath. I have heard that the veins have run dry, so you will need to seek out Bacharath, a Satyr Scholar who can be found at the Satyr Refugee Camp in Feladan. Once you have acquired the ore, you will need to process it into bars, and then return here to me.
Kelakhan tells you, You are a Dragon, you know how to process ore. But perhaps you do not know where to obtain the formula. Yes, that must be it. Seek the formula from the same Satyr, Bacharath, in Feladan. It is from he that you must obtain the knowledge of how to transform Elnathian Silver ore into bars.
Bacharath tells you, Greetings, <player>. What brings you here? Elnathian Silver? Yes, what you have heard is true. The veins on Elnath have run dry. But I acquired a substantial supply of the ore and I can also teach you how to make the bars. Take this formula, study it until you can scribe it into your own formula book, just in case you forget something later. The formula is free. The ore, however, is not. I only have so much ore left in my stores, so if you really want to use what I have, you have to pay for that.

Kelakhan tells you, Your timing is commendable, I completed distilling the mixture and left it to set just a few minutes ago. It will be at its strongest in a moment. I'm afraid I have little further news of the rune, aside from the fact it appears to have some purpose. Perhaps later on I will have answers. Here is the vial, as promised. I suggest drinking it down quickly, as over time it may lose some of its intensity.

Steps[edit]
- Speak to Hethsa the Patient at the top of the Peak of Storms.
- Explore the south end of the Isle of Elnath looking for some evidence of the elder runes of which Hethsa spoke.
- What you seek is a ruined satyr structure at 16000 / 19200.
- Return to speak with Kelakhan about the runes that you saw on the pillar on the Island of Elnath.
- Acquire a Splinter of Flame Bone from the mighty skeletons in the Western Deadlands.
- You must also obtain a full container of Essence of Fire off the blights in the Western Deadlands. These particular blights are made of either flame or fire, so will provide you with what is need to fill the container Kelakhan gave you.
- Return to Kelakhan with the splinter of and the essence. He will then tell you about the third component he requires.
- Speak with Bacharath at the Satyr Refugee Camp in Feladan.
- Use the formula Bacharath gave you to determine just how much Elnathian Silver Ore you will need, then either purchase it from him or another of the Gifted if they have stores left. You will need to create 10 Elnathian Silver Bars for Kelakhan.
- Return to Kelakhan with the silver bars.
