Caepio Bruttien lost his favorite dagger months ago and now he'd like for you to help him find it.
Quest text[edit]
Caepio tells you, <player>, I have found the forest a bit easier to venture into since you helped me. You have my thanks. There is another matter I am loathe to bother you with, but there is no one else to turn to. Perhaps you would lend me your ear and perhaps your blade?
Caepio tells you, Yes? By Galderos I am happy to hear you say that! You see, I have few weapons that I truly treasure, but there was this dagger you see. I know, I know, it's just a dagger. This dagger, <player>, was given to me on my Name-Day by my father. And I fear I lost it!
Caepio tells you, I have looked everywhere in the house, around the house, and nearby in the forest. The Treants and the undead have kept me from searching further. And, I am ashamed to admit it, but my father does not yet know that I have misplaced the dagger. Perhaps now is the time for him to learn of it.
Caepio tells you, You are here and you have agreed to lend me your blade. Speak with my father, <player>, and perhaps even my mother. They may know where the dagger is or where I left it last! Find my dagger for me.
Manilius tells you, <player>, what do you need? You are looking for Caepio's dagger? I suspected he had misplaced it for I had not seen it on his belt for many weeks. I can't say that I'm surprised. That boy would forget his head some days if it weren't attached. He's not at all like my other son... *his eyes stare off into the distance for a minute and he grows quiet* No, <player>, I do not know where the dagger may be. You should search the ruins of Tragorth, an ancient village located south and east of here.
Ahala tells you, Welcome to my home, <player>. How may I assist? Caepio lost the dagger his father gave him? Oh my, this will surely not please my husband. That dagger was given to Manilius by his father before him on his Name-Day.
Ahala tells you, No, I have not seen it around the house or grounds. *she sighs* I rarely venture outside much. Not since my son... *she shakes her head* <player>, I can think of two places my sons visited often and that you should search; The Grandfather Grove, a dense grove of the largest and oldest trees in the center of the forest, and the Fallen Stones, a circle of stones that lies near the northern edge of the forest.
You search the village but you find no dagger..
You search the underbrush but find no dagger..
On one of the stones you see the sun glint off some metal. Moving closer you see a jeweled dagger! This must be Caepio's lost dagger..
Caepio tells you, You found it! <player>, where was it? At the Fallen Stones? *he scratches his head for a moment, thinking* Yes, yes... I remember now! I was out in the forest that day looking for the rare fungus and I remember stopping to look around the stones when I was attacked. It was a particularly large wolf and all I had with me was my dagger so I ran. I must have dropped the dagger in my fright and completely forgotten about it! Thank you, <player>!
