Quest text[edit]

Listen to Kerian the Wise

I want you to make a regular malachite-tipped dragon claw. Simple enough, isn't it? A claw is a powerful aid. On its own, it doesn't help you rend your foes any better than your regular claws already do. It simply protects your claws and provides a vessel for you to upgrade them with magic without imbuing your scales directly.

That being said, I ask you to get on with making that claw now. If you don't remember where the gems are, you can also go talk to that naka'duskael Steward Pratt McGrubben for a reminder. I don't have time to give directions over again!

Craft twenty-four (24) Bronze Bars for the claw.

Game Feedback: You have made the bars!

Craft twelve (12) Cut Malachite for the claw. Kerian mentioned that Steward Pratt McGrubben may know the way to the mine if you have forgotten her directions.

Game Feedback: You have made the gems!

Craft one (1) Malachite-Tipped Dragon Claw.

Game Feedback: The claw is finished! Return to Kerian the Wise.

Welcome back. Hold onto that claw; I know what you are thinking. 'Wow, Kerian, that was a very easy task for such a skilled hatchling such as I! What is the twist?' There is a twist, young one, but not much of one. You see, not all techniques are applied on an item before you create it. Some techniques are special and may be applied after the item is already put together. Impressive, is it not?

  • Interesting.

Return to Kerian the Wise and listen to what she has to say.

It takes a very skilled crafter to make these techniques. Some may not be crafted at all and are simply shards of unique magic you may be handed in return for doing tasks for others in the future. I want you to test this magic for yourself first before you are exposed to it out in the world. Take this technique and combine it with your claw.

(Drag and drop the technique onto your claw.)

Once you have combined the technique with the claw, speak with Kerian the Wise.

Good, good. Now, you see how the magic on the item is taking a liking to you? This is normal. Once you wear this claw, it will be bound to your being - your very soul. You cannot give it away and others cannot give it to you. You can destroy it, but what good is there in that? Be wary what you wear if you plan to give it away.

  • -- Continue --

That is now truly all I can teach you, little one. If you're willing to lend me a claw, I can perhaps spare a gift for you. The bits you've given me while learning your own craft has fulfilled a few pesky requests from BattleMaster Avariatus. I suppose a favor begets a favor.

(Optional) Speak with Steward Pratt McGrubben if you need a reminder for directions to the mine.

The mines? Hm. You remember the pond, right? Where the sandstone is? Instead of stopping when you reach the pond, continue moving west along the road. Beyond the stoneworking shelter, you should see an entrance to a mineshaft. Gems are within that mine. Good luck, <player>!
