BattleMaster Avariatus wants you to use your firebreath ability against an enemy that is weak to fire.

Speak with BattleMaster Avariatus.
There you are, <player>. There's something important I'd like to teach you. It's about weaknesses and resistances and how your breath of fire ability works better against some enemies than it does others.
- I wasn't aware being burned alive could be anything but painful.
Don't get smart with me! In these lands there are creatures made of both fire and ice as well as many other elements and types, and some attacks work better than others. On New Trismus, however, there are only basic creatures and the invading withered aegis, but there are still weaknesses and resistances among them.

Your breath of fire ability allows you to use flame damage. I'd like for you to use this ability on some grulets since they are weak to flame. You can find them past the cow farm. And please - control yourself. The cows aren't for eating.
Defeat five (5) Wild Grulets southeast of town past the farm.

Use Breath of Fire three (3) times.

I imagine you noticed how quickly those grulets died to your breath of fire. It is a very useful ability, and as you grow, you'll have access to many other types of breath attacks, each with its own element type, such as Ice, Acid, and Lightning. You'll have to seek out these quests on your own when the time is right. Additionally, we dragons are the only beings strong enough to control the magic of primal.

Only dragons, the eldest and most powerful of all races, can control it. Naka'duskael make due with lesser magics, formed from pieces of primal like fire and energy, but we control the true magic. Your spells do primal damage, and in the future, you can learn a special spell that makes your claws rend through primal as well. But that is the future. Now! Let's continue your training.
