At the direction of Magish the Watcher, you recovered an Artifact of Power from the Grove of Lucina. The grove was thought blighted, but remains protected in spite of its precarious location. Now, Clarissa wants you to take the Lute to Aetheown to determine its properties and potential uses.

Quest text[edit]

<player>, I have studied the lute and I am unable to discern its properties or potential uses. However, I admit that the study of magical Artifacts has never been an interest or a skill of mine. Fortunately, there is one here at the Tower who has made the study of such things her purview.

  • Who would that be?

Speak with Clarissa the Defender of the Grove

Aetheown the Dryad is an expert in many aspects of magic, from the Nodes that the Towers are built upon to the Artifacts created by our ancient ancestors or by the gods themselves. Speak with her here at the Tower.

Welcome back, <player>. The wards hold, thanks to you. The Tower may yet remain free of the corruption of the blight. What can I do for you?

  • <You tell her of the Grove and of the Lute>

The Grove of Lucina resists the maelstrom! That is good to hear. Perhaps I will visit it soon and see if I can further strengthen its magic. Lucina's Lute, I thought never to see it again.

  • What do you know of it?

Stories, legends, nothing more. I did not realize it had been left at the Grove all these years. I assumed that it was collected by Meira or one of my kin and stashed away somewhere decades ago.

  • Why would the Ebon Guard have left it alone?

The protections of the Grove itself perhaps. You may have found it just in time if, as you say, the protections are weakening and the Grove is beginning to succumb to the maelstrom.

  • Do you know what the Lute can do?

Speak with Aetheown at the Tower of Nature about the Lute

It is not a Greater Artifact, I am sorry to say, but it is still quite powerful. Strum it and it will fill you with the regenerative and protective force of nature for a time. Perhaps it will be useful in your fight against the Ebon Guard.

Welcome back, <player>. What did you learn?

  • <You tell her what you learned from Aetheown>

Return to Speak with Clarissa the Defender of the Grove with your new information

Interesting. That isn't overpowering, but could be quite useful in your fight against the Ebon Guard. I have just the challenge for you. Go, assist Llaul Dynray and Nature Keeper Iseru and then return here to me.

Return to Clarissa the Defender of the Grove at the Tower of Nature

Thank you for your help, <player>. The Tower and the Order will survive, at least for a time, thanks to you. Please, accept this as a small gesture of thanks.
