Quest text[edit]

Balennos tells you, Well, I've looked through my records and I'm afraid I have nothing new to offer. The crystal functioned as it was designed to. It recorded what it was offered, nothing more. If you want it to record more, you must offer it more. I can't tell you how to do that, but Karane might. I suggest you take the crystal to him; as I understand it, in addition to history, he also has an interest in spiritual matters. Perhaps he can help you.

Karane tells you, Ah, <player>, isn't it? Yes, I thought so. It seems such a short time ago that you were an excitable hatchling, full of questions and eager to set your claws on the road to adulthood. Now, here you are, a seasoned veteran whose name is well known among both Helian and Lunus, and again you come to me with questions. So tell me, young Tinder, what brings you here today?

Karane tells you, Fascinating... I've seen references to 'Drulkar's Wrath' in several ancient accounts, but it always seemed to be more of a colorful metaphor rather than an actual power or ability. I'll be happy to help you any way I can, but I don't know how much help I can actually be. I can't give you any suggestions on the memory crystal, but as for Allathos herself, I have a few thoughts

Karane tells you, In the earliest days, the first of us to follow Drulkar here emerged in the great lava pools and there they crafted physical forms. They emerged from the lava as dragons full grown - sometimes even as ancients. Drulkar did not want this, however, and he commanded that we live according to the rules Istara set forth for life. To be drake and dragoness, to live, grow old, and to die. We came from Fire, but in accordance to Drulkar's will, in death we go to Nyrevin and the Realm of Spirit.

Karane tells you, Don't look so surprised. Death is death, whether for biped, dragon, or giant chicken. Allathos is trapped between realms, and I believe that the only way for her presence here to become stronger would be for that part of her which has already gone on to be released to return to our world. I know of no way to do that, sadly. That does not mean that it can't be done, however. I suggest you go to Kion and speak with Mera. The Saris collect knowledge as we do gems and precious things, and Mera's hoard is immense.

Mera tells you, Blessings of the day to you, friend dragon. How could I help you today?

Mera tells you, My goodness, it sounds like you've been very busy, <player>. I may have to go see Allathos myself and see if she'd be willing to talk to me about what she remembers of her life. That doesn't fix your problem, obviously, but I think I know who will have the answers you need.

Mera tells you, No, this isn't another wild gruok chase, so please stop snarling. The spirit of Allathos is partially here and partially in the Realm of Spirit, which is the goddess Nyrevin's domain. If you want anything more out of Allathos, part of her soul will need to return from Spirit, and the only way that's going to happen is if you find some way to petition Nyrevin and offer her some form of appeasement.

Obviously, Nyrevin hasn't been very popular since the rise of the Withered Aegis; in fact, her worshippers were pretty much hunted into extinction during the human civil war. Fortunately for you, though, there is a priest of Nyrevin not two minutes flight from the south gate of Tazoon. His name is Kiruu. He's a mummy, but he's not one of the Aegis. Actually, he's a rather nice fellow. I'm sure he'll be glad to help. Of course, if I think of anything else, I'll let you know at once.

Kiruu tells you, If you've come to kill me and search my body for loose change, you can forget it! Dead men don't need - Aaiiiiiiiiigh!!!!

Ah... For... forgive me, great flame lord, I meant no disrespect. It's just that, most of those who find me try to hack me into pieces without so much as a 'Hello, how are you'. I was expecting one of them, not a personage such as your greatness. How may I help you, mighty one?

Kiruu tells you, Well, what do you expect? When I was alive, your people ruled the world almost as gods yourselves. So, begging your pardon, I'd really prefer to continue groveling before you. It just feels... safer. Now, as a matter of fact, I do know the prayers to petition the Silent Lady for access to the wisdom of one of her subjects. It would be my great honor and pleasure to create the needed scroll, mighty one, but there are two small obstacles.

Kiruu tells you, Very small obstacles, oh sovereign of the winds! One is small, anyway, and there's every reason to think the other is as well. Well, you see, I have papyrus, and brushes, but no inks. I am bound to this place, and I cannot travel more than a small measure of steps or what feeble and pathetic semblance of life I do have will depart from me forever. I will need inks.

Kiruu tells you, Armor dye kits? I'm sorry, great one, but I have no idea what those are, and I have no wish to incur your wrath should they be unsuitable. But, if the great one would be so kind as to bring this poor servant a sample of such a kit, preferably in black, it will be my joy to test it to see if it will meet the great one's needs. If the black dye is suitable, I will need a second measure of black, as well as gold, dark green, red, and dark blue. That should be enough to create the scroll, but there is still the matter of the rose petals.

Kiruu tells you, Yes, petals of midnight blue, from the Rose of Regret. It grows around here - well, it did, anyway. My fear, oh great and terrible one, is that the storms which buried our great city also destroyed the blue roses. The rose petals are to be sprinkled over the fire when your scroll is burned. The smoke is pleasing to Nyrevin and draws her attention to your prayer, so having at least a small handful is vital to making sure your petition is heard.

Even though the rose is almost certainly extinct, it's very likely that the people of Kaiyar still have some dried petals. The entire village was turned to stone and buried for two thousand years, so everything they had was preserved. I'm sure that they will be happy to help if the great lord asks.

Kiruu tells you, In the great lord's absence, I will be diligently composing a prayer of such beauty and delicacy that even the Silent Lady will be moved to compassion. Have no doubt, mighty one, when you return I will be ready to serve you.
