Lore[edit]

Nuraa tells you, May whichever god you follow bless you, <player>. Please take care of yourself and feel free to speak with me at any time if you need my council.

Nuraa tells you, There are many gods in the Pantheon, friend, but not everyone accepts them all as their own and many do not even believe in their existence these days. With the rise of the Gifted, we have essentially created gods of our own out of ourselves! Many have shunned the Pantheon, but I and some others refuse to believe our gods truly have abandoned our beautiful Realm.

Nuraa tells you, Our universe is divided into many Realms, each in tune with their own kind of magic. The Realm that we live in is called the Realm of the Prime and is the convergence point for all of the energies of the other Realms. This is why you see all kinds of magic here and not just one! All the other realms orbit the Prime on a two-dimensional plane in two cocentric circles. Do you follow me? Yes? Good. The inner circle are known as the Prime Ring, or Inner Realms, and touch the Prime directly. They are the oldest and most stable of the Realms and you probably know most of them; Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Life, Spirit, Blight and Energy. Outside of the center ring are the Outer Realms, which are much younger and less easily observed and their names are not so well known; Nature, Storm, Bounty, Expanse, Order, Chaos, Light, Shadow, Dawn and Twilight.

Nuraa tells you, While you can see all the Realms outlined in the stars, the Outer Realms are the hardest to see out there. In between all of the Realms is the Realm of Void, which is truly not a Realm on its own, but bears the name regardless. It consists pure emptiness - true nothingness - and surrounds all of the Realms that we are familiar with. If you wonder, it is possible to traverse the different Realms, but it is a very challenging process known by very few. One of the last to know how to summon interdimensional portals was an ancient dragon named Karvanoth, but he fell recently to an invasion from an icey realm, taking his knowledge with him. Some lucky Gifted were able to witness this magic one last time during their assault against an everlasting magical winter. Splinters of the Realms exist and can, at times, be accessed through portals. Places such as the draconic Gate of Embers, the Fiery Rift, the Elder Grove, and the Dead Swamp are but a small number of the splinters encountered over the centuries.

Nuraa tells you, There are eleven gods that watch upon us from above! The Dryad follow Alyssa, the goddess of Nature and Focus. Bachantus is the god of Artistry and Revelry, followed by the Satyr. Brobbet, god of Honor and Justice, is loved by the dwarves. Half-giants are partial to Daggarth, god of Malice and Strength. Dragons worship the first of their kind, Drulkar, the god of Fire. Galderos, god of Beasts and War, is favored by the elves. Istara, goddess of Creation, is loved by all, but those who mostly are loyal to her consist of humans and gnomes. The sslik honor Kaasha, god of Serpents and Rain. My kind, the saris, honor Merrasat, the goddess of the Sun and Knowledge. The mysterious fiends are loyal to Niatha Moraven, goddess of Vengeance and Power. Finally, Nyrevin is known by all and followed by none. She is the goddess of Death and Rebirth. Finally, there is the one who fled the Pantheon, but Aetheown at the Tower of Nature knows more on he than I.

Nuraa tells you, Beautiful Alyssa is the wife of Galderos. It is believed that her guidance and power is what allowed the dryads to escape the wrath of the Aegis years ago when they teleported their own city into the Void. Her followers on this world dwindled with the dryads gone, but her wonderous love returned with the dryads themselves. Those that dedicate themselves to nature magic also pray to her, hoping that she may bless them with her power and wisdom. It is they who kept her name alive when the dryads exiled themselves from the Prime.

Nuraa tells you, Bachantus is a god who was nearly lost to us! While the satyr were under the rule of the Withered Aegis, they had lost touch with their god. Their beautiful city, named Bachan after their patron god, was lost beyond the Great Barrier to the east, locked to the shattered eastern continent! Now that the satyr have returned, so has the worship of Bachantus. Little is known about him due to the lost time in the Age of Lamentations, but he lives on in the hearts of satyr everywhere.

Nuraa tells you, Ah, mighty Brobbet! The dwarves resemble their god in a way, don't they? Don't judge a book by its cover! Dwarves might be stout, tough, and love their beer, but if you ask me, their best trait is their honor. They might not worship Brobbet much anymore, at least publicly, but they still practice his teachings of honor and justice. Many years ago, the old dwarven kings used to be the way that dwarves spoke to their god. Their last king, Dralnok, was unfortunately killed and with him, many of their teachings and worship have fallen wayside.

Nuraa tells you, Brother of Galderos, Daggarth is a mighty god! In the Age of the Gods, he often warred with his brother. A legend tells of a time when he allied with a fallen god Varrantoth to slay his brother, but it backfired and Daggarth himself was slain. Debate rages as to whether Daggarth truly is dead, but his followers are steadfast in the belief that he still lives on. Daggarth is - or was - a malicious god and his half-giant followers used to be very good exemplars of that. Many years ago, the half-giants used to inhabit Trandalar and the frozen north. They would send large raiding parties and ships south, often taking in slaves. My kind were the most notorious targets and many of us were packed away in their slaving ships. Nowadays, we are all at peace, but I wonder how much Daggarth's malicious teachings still influence the half-giants to this day.

Nuraa tells you, Drulkar is a unique one. While many of the other gods have never been given a true face or have touched this world in ways we can measure, Drulkar was very real - or so we believe. According to a dragon's view of history, Drulkar was the very first of his kind to step into the Realm of the Prime. He taught his followers how to be true dragons, including crafts like lairshaping. He left this Realm to return to the Realm of Fire thousands of years ago and hasn't been seen by many since. Dragons still worship him by name, despite this, and might be the most religious out of anyone left in this world. I envy them.

Nuraa tells you, Galderos is a vicious god. Legends have it that he is the one that created war by fighting his brother, Daggarth, for years and years. It is believed that a grudge still exists between the two due to Daggarth's innate malice and that this is why the elves, Galderos' followers, and the half-giants, Daggarth's followers, harbor hatred for each other to this day. This is likely a silly tale, even coming from my perspective - my people were not the only ones sacked by the half-giants back in their raiding days and that gives many reasons to hold a grudge.

Nuraa tells you, Glorious Istara! It is believed that she is the creator of all things in this world, though primarily, her sons and daughters are her humans. They are her protectors of this world and through them, Istara lives on. She is probably one of the most lively gods we can feel around us - while the others are being forgotten, her magic and love hangs on strong for the human race. She is not immune to the distancing of the gods, though, and she, too, is slowly being shunned by her humans. The gnomes love her as well but are experiencing the same decline, looking towards their gizmos and technology more than their gods. Sad, is it not?

Nuraa tells you, Little is spoken of about Kaasha outside of the sslik. She is rather distant from the Pantheon, but it is believed that she once appeared on this world in the form of a giant serpent, guiding her reptilian followers across this world. Despite the mystery, the sslik still follow her and speak her name, which is more than can be said for many other gods of this world.

Nuraa tells you, Merrasat is the saris' powerful goddess! My and my kin's patron goddess is honored as one of the strongest deities, embodying two powerful identities - the sun and knowledge. We saris collect history and knowledge like no other, taking after our wonderful Merrasat. While she is closer to the Pantheon than Kaasha, she is also rather aloof from their affairs. If you ask me, it's because she is far above the others' squabbling!

Nuraa tells you, Niatha Moraven is a dangerous goddess, <player>. She is sought after by powerhungry rulers and other scoundrels for her ability to grant grand power and exact vengeance upon her foes. Many years ago, the humans fractured into two factions during the Age of the Sorcerer - those that wished to touch every sect of magic, including dark arts like necromancy, and those that preferred morality over power. The former faction splintered off and adopted Niatha Moraven as their god, whom then blessed them - or warped them, depending on who you ask - into the fiends we know today. Many point to this event as proof that gods still exist, myself included, but it is troubling proof, indeed.

Nuraa tells you, A dangerous and tricky goddess - that is how I would describe Nyrevin. While her power is necessary to keep our world running, it is also very dangerous powers - death and rebirth. You can see her at work every fall and spring as she decimates the life on this world then brings it back each year. She has done too much to number, but if you ever see massive skeletons of odd spiked mammals, know that those are Nyrevin's Apologies and that you are lucky to have not been alive when they roamed Istaria. Some believe Nyrevin is the reason we have the Gift, though, and praise her for "meddling" in the Ritual of Life Everlasting that caused the Gift to form. Of course, this has never been proven and many shun the idea, preferring to believe that we created gods of our own.
