The heart-shaped artifact has been revealed to be Galderos' Heart, a powerful Artifact of the Elder Days. Gaileach believes it may indeed hold the power once Activated to defeat Shaloth. But first, it must be empowered.
Quest text[edit]
There remains but one final action to take before the power of Galderos' Heart may be utilized, <player>. We must find a way to activate the power of the stone. Fortunately, you are in luck! I believe I know a way, something my ancestors did not possess in the ancient days.
- Oh? What is that?
To activate an Artifact you must channel power into it. Not as much as it would produce itself, of course, but enough to awaken it. Depending upon the power of the Artifact, the amount of power required may be significant and, in some cases, even prohibitive.
- What about with this artifact?
Centuries ago, my people would have spent months or even years perfecting magical spells to channel the energy into the Artifacts. Today, however, we have access to the ingenuity of Gnomish Tinkerers.
- How could a tinkerer help with this?

Machines and devices are capable of channeling energy from one place to another, <player>, and no one is better at it than the Gnomes. Go speak with Noncas Fizzlebot here in Aughundell. He may have an idea about how we can activate this Artifact.
Hello, hello, come on in. I've noticed you running back and forth, to and fro, throughout town. What keeps you so busy these days? Is it something to do with the caverns I hear everyone talking about?
- An artifact I found within those caverns is why I am here.
An artifact, you say? One from the ancient days of the Dryad?
- Yes, exactly. Aetheown called it Galderos' Heart.
Galderos? As in the Pantheon? Those dryad and their superstitions. Now, you come here to me, Noncas Fizzlebot, to ask for assistance. Oh, Entropy! Where to begin, oh my, yes, where to begin.
- You are familiar with Artifacts of Power?

Oh, yes. Gaileach was correct, you will need a way to activate it and that requires power. You see, <player>, artifacts are nothing more than magical devices that can be imbued with and transform power. May I see it?
- Of course.
Thank you. I see that you have cleansed it and that is good; you cannot work with a dirty device. Hah! Well, some can, but not Noncas Fizzlbeot, no! This isn't portal science!
- Portal science?
Never mind about those amateurs. Now, to power the device we will need a power source, a conduit to channel the power, and a conductor. The easiest is probably the conductor, so let us begin there. You will need to obtain some Purified Radiant Essence Powder. Five units will suffice, given the size of the artifact.
- Where would I obtain that?
Speak with Noncas Fizzlebot in Aughundell about Activating Galderos' Heart
Goodness, <player>, any way you can of course! Buy it, trade for it... make it! I care not, just find five units and come back to me.
Acquire five (5) units of Purified Radiant Essence Powder. You can either craft them by yourself or trade them with another player or Consigner.

Good, good! Yes, this powder will be more than adequate. Next on the list is a power source. This one may be tricky, you will need to find a Tinkerer, one of the Gifted no doubt. We will need ten (10) Class 6 Recharge Cells for this to work.

Return to Noncas Fizzlebot in Aughundell with the Purified Radiant Essence Powder.
I surely could, but I am quite busy. Do you want my help or not, <player>? If you do, then go find ten Class 6 Recharge Cells and don't ask me how! My answer is the same as before... buy, trade or make them of course.

Most impressive, <player>. Ten cells, fully charged and ready to power our Artifact. Now, the final item may prove the most difficult of all. You will need to obtain a Power Conduit. Not just any conduit will suffice, this one must be made specifically for this task. I suggest you go speak with my good friend Gangaf Tagley in Dalimond for further instructions.

My old friend Noncas, you say? Well, well. Of course I can help you with that. What do you need it for?

Different power conduits for different uses, <player>. How much power do you need to channel?
- I need it to help activate an Artifact of Power.
Oh! Oh, my. You'll need one of my patented Mirrodin-229 power conduits. Only one of that quality and craftsmanship will handle the power needs for this.

Speak with Gangaf Tagley in Dalimond about a Power Conduit
<player>, you are in luck today! I happen to have a Power Conduit laying about that I was going to use on the next upgrade to my JJ-... well, nevermind, you don't need to know about that now. Just know that this Power Conduit can channel up to two-hundred tagins of energy, which should be more than enough to handle your needs.
You're back, good! Were you able to acquire a power conduit?
- Yes, Gangaf was more than happy to part with one he was going to use for something called a JJ whatever.
JJ what? Well, he is always working on a project. For that matter, so are most Tinkerers. Never satisfied with what we have, never a dull moment! May I have it please?

Let's see. A Mirrodin-229? Well, at least we've got the good stuff. With this power conduit you may now attempt to empower the Artifact, <player>.

Oh, forgive me! I forgot to give you the instructions, didn't I? Well, here you are. You will need to take it to an Essence Channeler to use this.

You did it! This is an amazing day indeed, <player>. I never thought to see an Activated artifact of the ancient days in my presence. But here one is, thanks to you. You have done well, beyond my wildest hopes. Judging by the energies being given off by the Heart, I think we can safely say that you now stand a chance of defeating Shaloth.
