A phylactery must represent its user in both body and soul. While the crystal will represent your spirit, your body will be represented by the gold clasp that contains it.

Quest text[edit]

Theed tells you, Your decision regarding the Opal Ring will not influence your future as much as I made it seem, but I have sent a message back to Semeneth with your choice. We all must make choices in life, youngling, and they will change our journey through life in ways we may never realize. But the decision has been made and now it is time to move on. Seek out Lantenal the Hermit for the final gem.

Lantenal tells you, How OFTEN do I need to keep telling you kids, get away from my la... OH! Sorry, bit of a habit. You're looking for appropriate gems to create an imbued clasp, you are? Well, I can help with one, but not all. So far as a tapered sapphire goes, I'm your dragon indeed.

Lantenal tells you, You've proven yourself capable of making decisions. And you've proven your physical prowess as well. But how is your mind, hatchling? Are you able to solve my riddles? Bring me one of each of the four items described in my riddles and I will grant you the item you require. And no cheating! You must obtain the item yourself!

Lantenal tells you, You may attain the items in any order. Bring me a frosty box of thoughts but smaller still, the red sees all from fangs and legs, the bite of the desert wind is worse than its howl, and slime of those who walk without legs

A frosty shrunken head seems appropriate for a small box of thoughts....

The spider's eye seems appropriate for the Hermit's riddle..

The razor sharp fangs from the desert wolves seem to be what the Hermit needs....

You suspect this sample of undead ectoplasm will satisfy the hermit's fourth riddle..

Lantenal tells you, Very good then, I see you've managed all the items. A bit of a scavenger hunt I'll admit... but useful just the same for some side projects of my own. Now, as promised, a tapered sapphire. Hopefully this will do for you, I'd suggest speaking with Semeneth for suggestions on the other two items you'll be wanting.

You have received 1 Tapered Sapphire.

Semeneth tells you, Now that you have acquired the three tapered gems, you must have them etched appropriately. These etchings are a portrait of sorts, a symbolic image of yourself and your weights in these three attributes.

Semeneth tells you, To the far southeast, on an island, you'll find the fallen dragon community of Draak. There are three guardian dragons who live there, watching to ensure the blight does not creep even further onto the island. They have great talent in assessing one's physical and mental composition, and are capable of etching this image onto your tapered gems. Travel there, locate these three guardians, and speak to them about the gems.

Nezra tells you, Greetings, hatchling! I see you have a tapered sapphire, does this mean you seek my help in assessing your measure of personality? This is something I have a great deal of knowledge in, and can easily help you with.

Nezra tells you, Before we discuss how, though, let me make sure that you can return to Draak more readily in the future. Give me a moment to analyze your spirit and determine if you have already attuned to the Draak portal, and if not I will make the nescessary change.

Nezra tells you, Well, I can easily judge the shape of your head, you see, which to some degree is a measure of one's heart. While I do not believe anything so contrived as our mind chooses our form intentionally, I do believe they are inseparable on many levels. Habits, thoughts, expressions, and actions indelibly form and scar our bodies as time progresses. In fact, the older one is the more accurately I can read them. You seem a bit young yet, I think, but I can still make an accurate assessment. In fact, as we have been speaking here I already have. I believe you will do well as an Adult, and so I shall etch the sapphire for you.

You have received 1 Etched Sapphire.

Kalrenta tells you, I can, indeed, etch a tapered ruby for you, hatchling. Over the years I have become a fair judge of the capabilities and form of one's body, and can do this with little time. I do require a demonstration beforehand, however.

Kalrenta tells you, Elsewhere on this island you will find three enslavers. One of mind, one of will, one of spirit. Defeat each of them, in turn, then return to me. Seeing your level of weariness and trouble will be all I require. You'll find these creatures walking the grounds of Draak, not far from here. Worry not about why they are there or what they enslave. My companions and I will keep the one they guard confined until your assessment is complete.

The Enslaver of Will falls dead at your feet..

The Enslaver of Spirit falls dead at your feet..

The Enslaver of Mind falls dead at your feet..

Kalrenta tells you, While the ruby is representative of one's heart and strength, truly measuring it is often difficult. You cannot simply look at dragon's body and know its capabilities; you must instead judge how its owner makes use of it, and how its owner responds to a dangerous situation. The defeat of these creatures is not trivial, and I see here that you handled yourself well. While I can see stress, I also see resistance to adversity and a strength that is not usual. I shall now etch this into the surface of your ruby, and I wish you good travels along your chosen path.

You have received 1 Etched Ruby.

Mesetha tells you, Ah, I see you have been assessed of both head and heart. This leaves balance, which is quick enough. I gather at some point you have spoken to a man named Theed? And that he posed you a question? Tell me of it.

Mesetha tells you, I see. I believe I understand your temperament, though I do not always sway that way myself. I imagine you are surprised at the curtness of this interview, yes? In truth I have been aware as you spoke to the other two guardians, and much of my judgement is made then. Asking what you made of Theed's small moral dilemma is merely detail. You seem to have some consistancy of behavior and thought, which is all I truly need to judge. Now, good travels to you, hatchling, and I wish you luck on your chosen path.

You have received 1 Etched Emerald.

Semeneth tells you, I see you did indeed reach Draak and speak to the guardians, well done. This means you are ready to attempt the creation of the clasp itself.

Semeneth tells you, There are two steps to this process, the first being to create the three tines, after which you will create the clasp. Using your scale crafting abilities, this should be easily accomplished, though you may need some practice to accomplish the goal. Take these two formulae; they will describe to you how to create the necessary items.

The pieces fit together perfectly, as though the item is creating itself. The resultant clasp feels sturdy, and you feel almost a sense of peace when holding it..

Semeneth tells you, Yes, this clasp is beautiful, a work of art really. The end of your journey is near, hatchling. We will speak again soon.
