This guide explains on how you can have more than one installation of Istaria.

This has the following benefits:

  • If want to play on blight, a second install prevents you patching back and forth between the blight and live shards.
  • Caching issues are minimized
  • If using different hard drives, you spread the hard drive utilisation => more speed

Locate your current Istaria install[edit]

If you followed the vanilla installer (setup.exe) of Istaria, you may have installed Istaria on the following locations:

  • 32 bit operating systems:
    C:\Program Files\Istaria
  • 64 bit operating systems:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Istaria

If not you need to find your installed location on your own!

Fast hard drives[edit]

If you are using an NVME or SSD Hard drive, you can copy your new install to it and run istaria in parallel. To do so, select the Istaria folder, press CTRL+C (Copy), then press CTRL+V (Paste). The Istaria folder is copied over into the folder Istaria - Copy, or similar if you had a different directory on your original install.

Rename the folder appropriate. For example: 'Istaria 2', 'Istaria 3', or 'Istaria Blight', etc.

When it's done, change into the new directory and search the file 'jlauncher.exe'.

Select and right click it and choose 'Send to' => 'Desktop'.

On your Desktop, select the file (jlauncher - Shortcut), then right click and choose 'Properties'.

Switch to the 'Compatibility' Tab and check the 'Run this program as an administrator' box. Then click 'OK'

Feel free to rename that link to your needs.

That's it! You're ready to use your new install.

Other hard drives[edit]

  • D:\Istaria 2
  • D:\Istaria Blight
  • E:\Games\Istaria 2
  • etc.

Press CTRL+V (Paste). Now the copy begins.
