Circlet of Command

The extract of the incursion has been determined and Scout Burris believes the situation is quite grave. In addition, the undead have been alerted to your presence, though you have blinded them to your movements. Scout Burris is sending you to obtain assistance from the Elves in facing this threat before it is too late.

Quest Text[edit]

Burris tells you, This tale of the Elven General Attios is intriguing, but a small bit worrisome, <player>. If it is to be believed and the patrols are in fact coming from the remains of the general's camp then we may be facing a deadly threat. One commanded by one of the greatest generals in the history of the Living Races!

Burris tells you, I am but merely a scout, <player>, and know little of the strategies of armies. This is beyond me! We must speak with the Elves themselves about this matter. Travel to Feladan and speak with one known as Tareviel. He knows more than any alive about the history of the Elves and especially of battles and war.

Good day to you, Dragon Adventurer. What brings you to Feladan? Attios' Stand? Where did you hear of this, <player>? Manilius Bruttien? Yes, he is known to me. A good elf and he speaks true. This is dire news indeed!

Attios, <player>, was one of the greatest generals of my people. Perhaps even the greatest of all of the Living Races. If not for his leadership and actions in Eastern Aradoth the Withered Aegis and the Undead Hordes would have arrived to Western Aradoth decades earlier and would have utterly destroyed us all.

I know much of him for I fought with him for many years. I did not know him personally, but as with many of my people and comrades in arms we respected him and would have died for him. Indeed, many thousands of us did.

I was not with him for his final stand, though many times over the years I have wished otherwise. Oh, I do not long for death, <player>, but I do feel a sense of... failed duty. As if I let the General as well as my people down for not being there. My death would have changed nothing, of course, and I have done much to enrich and protect my people since. Galderos will be the judge of my actions in the end.

Burris and the Imperial Army believe Attios has risen and is leading these patrols, perhaps even marshaling his forces. He must be stopped and put to rest, <player>. He is too powerful and deadly to be allowed to lead the Undead Hordes and it is an abomination in all of the gods' eyes for his soul to be used in such a manner! His Circlet of Command must also be recovered, <player>. It is a symbol of his power and was conferred upon him by Cirevitol himself who in turn received it from the King long ago.

Now, Dragon Adventurer, go back to this hilltop, fight your way to the center of the camp, and defeat the risen general! Knowing the Withered Aegis there are likely Necromancers as well, you must defeat them or your efforts to defeat the General will be for naught. For his sake and for ours you must do this and you must do it quickly!

Burris tells you, Well done, <player>! You have stopped any chance the undead had of bypassing our defenses around Harro. Your vigilance is appreciated and shall not be forgotten. For the time being I will hold onto the Circlet you recovered, to ensure it is not lost.
