Quest text[edit]

Irus: You wish to know more of Akkinelos the Sorrowful, do you? I was never a good student of history or lore and many know more than I, but I can tell you some of what I know about her.

She is called the Sorrowful by many, the Bringer of Sorrow by others. She was the goddess of Ice and Misery, for the north has ever been cold and unforgiving to those who knew it least.
The humans and perhaps the Half-Giants or even the Trandalarans of a previous age, paid some homage to her, but that time is long past. Few worshipped her because she was not known to give blessings to anyone, save when it amused her or might bring misery to those whom she blessed.
Indeed, a story I once heard told of a traveler who became lost in the northern snows. :Huddling in a cave hewn from the ice, shivering from the winds and snows of a ferocious blizzard, the traveler prayed and sacrificed to Akkinelos to keep him safe from the storm.
As the story goes, soon he saw two great burning eyes watching him from the darkness beyond the cave. The traveler knew not that it was Akkinelos herself for he had heard tales of fearsome monsters in the northern snows and feared one had come upon his camp. Moment by moment his fear grew until he could not longer sit idle and, fearing he could be overcome at any moment, stoked his fire until it raged as greatly as the storm, banishing the shadows.
He laughed as the eyes withdrew, cursing and mocking them in his triumph. Shamed for Akkinelos had considered the traveler's plight at great length, as well as angry, for she did not like to be mocked, the goddess fled back into the blizzard, but not before she gave the traveler her blessing.
At that very moment, the traveler heard a pop and crack and the roof of the ice cave collapsed atop him and his great fire, trapping him within a tomb of ice. Some say that he remains there still, trapped, his fire frozen beside him within the tomb of ice, but safe for eternity... or until Akkinelos' shame and anger cools.

Lemnus says, '*he snorts* Childish stories.'

Irus says, '*she laughs* Perhaps so, but entertaining nonetheless, no?'
