Ulaven the Mage wants you to know about enemy weaknesses and resistances.

Ulaven tells you, Hey there, Elteria! Now that you have a fancy new staff, let's try breaking it in with some violence!
- Violence? What kind of violence?
Ulaven tells you, You see, certain attacks work better on some monsters. This is because all creatures in Istaria have weaknesses and resistances. For instance, beetles are weak to crush damage, so you could use your staff to crush them, but that might not be as useful as a spell since you don't have much skill with melee.
- Ah, I see... so is anything weak to my spells?
Ulaven tells you, Ah, yes of course! Gruoks are weak to fire, giving us an advantage over them and making them a fine target. Though I must warn you; if you find a creature that's made of fire in your travels, it will be resistant to all of your flame spells. Boring, right? However, there's nothing like that on this island, so we'll just focus on the grulets. You'll be able to find them in the grass past the cow farm. Defeat enough of them, and use your Engulf ability a few times, then return to me.
You have defeated enough Grulets. Return to Ulaven the Mage after you have used Engulf enough times.
You used Engulf on the grulets enough to see that they really do take a lot of damage from it. You should return to Ulaven the Mage when you're done hunting grulets.

- Defeat five (5) Wild Grulets. They roam southeast of New Trismus Square, past the farm.
- Use Engulf Three (3) times.
- Return to Ulaven the Mage.
