Quest text[edit]

Greetings, <player>! What brings you here today? Hasera has asked you for Tea? Ohhh! You must be embarking on your trial to earn your black sash! Isn't that exciting?

It feels like it was almost yesterday when you first arrived in Kion to begin your training. Ahh... I could purr all day over how you are all grown up but alas we have things to do! Or rather, you do.

I'm afraid I can't give you the kettle and a tea set for the ceremony - I have to buy them from an artisan and it's no easy task making them in the first place, so they charge a pretty penny. They're twenty five silver each - just trade with me for them.

For your tea... There's some legwork to do.

You have received 1 Ceremonial Tea Set.

You have received 1 Cast Iron Kettle.

Traditionally we have grown our own tea leaves, but the Aegis fouled the entire crop some years ago and proceeded to ruin every attempt to try to cultivate more. Thus... we no longer had any tea trees. This meant we had to look elsewhere in the world for tea leaves in vain, as Kion has had not even an unblighted seed to use... or so we thought.

For the past 25 or so years, all traces of the tea tree all but had faded from the world. The Aegis had effectively rendered the tree extinct, or so it was believed.

Someone found some seeds in an old Saris ruin, and decided it might be interesting to see if they'd germinate. And you know what <player>? They did, and out of them grew the tea trees of old!

So naturally, we have been trying to cultivate them again. I kept one of the saplings for myself, and some Dryads have helped in growing it under Merrasat's fierce gaze like they used to here.

Due to the local Aegis threat, we couldn't grow the remaining trees in Kion for fear of losing them again sadly. It has been discovered, however, that there is another place that lends itself well to growing tea trees.

The elves of Feladan used to also have their own tea trees before the fall of Feladan destroyed them, so we have been working together in a joint effort to try to prevent the trees from going extinct again. While it isn't the strain of trees the elves once had, they seem happy to just have some form of tea again.

Not to worry however - they still prepare theirs like they remember. Their trees typically grow in the shade of the woods. It turns the flavors to something more relaxing, sweet, and mellow than that of the fully sunlit trees of Kion. This lends itself better to what you need the tea for - and the reason why you can't just go pluck leaves from the tree outside.

Luckily for you, you won't need to harvest anything! Feladan's tea needs some special love and care after the leaves are harvested - and this can take many many weeks, <player>. I can't really pick it up because I've got to mind my own establishment here. Could you go get it for me? Feladan's monk trainer takes care of the tea grove over there. His name is Turai Levinn. He should have the tea shipment for me.

Greetings Saris. What brings you to Feladan today?

Ah, yes! I have Ahnna's tea leaves. Please keep them dry, and my best regards to her. Safe travels!

You have received 1 Box of Feladan Gyokuro Tea Leaves.

Excellent! These are an excellent quality too it looks. While most of these leaves are for my Tavern, you get a portion for your trial. I'll need you to go outside and grab a handful of the leaves from the Kion tree now, as well. They're at their peak when freshly picked.

You have an eye for high quality tea leaves, <player>. I should make you a blendmaster for my tavern. It'd bring people from all corners of the world!

There is a small handful of other components. Take a little rest and speak to me when you are ready to continue again.
