Quest text[edit]

Step 1: Speak to Ulaven and request his presence at the council.

Barak: "I fear my expertise alone can't account for the things we've seen. I wish to call upon a council with Guard-Captain Michellaide and Ulaven. Zandra has the military mind, but Ulaven is a mage and can likely speak more about the magic we've seen. Please, Player, fetch Ulaven. I will send for the Guard-Captain."

Ulaven is just down the hill, turn around and you should see his question mark.

Ulaven: "Ah, Player, nice to see you. Do you have another ominous scroll?"

Player: "No, Sergeant Barak sent me to fetch you for a council."

Ulaven: "A council! Curious. What's so important? I suppose we'll find out! I will see you there."

When you run back, you will see: e Ulaven has taken his place at the table. It appears Barak has already managed to get Zandra's presence.

'Greet' the table to proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Interact with the table to start the council.

Barak tells you, Welcome, Ulaven, Guard-Captain. I have been working with this Gifted to aim targeted strikes against the undead here. In doing so, <player> has managed to not only make headway into the deadlands, but also defeat Urgat, the pillager of our good town.

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, Really?! I caught wind of this news, but I wasn't sure how true it was. We are in your debt, <player>.

-- Continue --

Barak tells you, Unfortunately that is where the good news ends, Captain. I expected to see a cripple in the undead's structure with the leader gone, but no such thing has occurred. I fear Urgat was not the leader, but a lieutenant.

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, That's impossible. Urgat has been in charge since the start of this invasion all those years ago. If he is not the leader, then who is?

-- Continue --

Barak tells you, I do not know, but there's no other explanation. How else can the army keep on its feet? On top of this, <player> made a troubling discovery. Please, tell the others what you saw in detail.

  • <Describe the wraith corpse and its reality-bending properties.>

Barak tells you, I fear something big is brewing in those deadlands. I was hoping Ulaven could make something out of the magical properties this wraith corpse had that might help us figure out what could be going on beyond those gates.

-- Continue --

Ulaven tells you, Oh! There's only two kinds of magic that bend reality as we know it - mind and summoning. I've never personally seen an undead that could use mind magic on this island, but we do know for sure that they can make portals! It's a little known fact that the Blight Anchors that call forces of destruction from the Realm of Blight make use of summoning magic.

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, Summoning? What sort of Aegis cast summoning spells...?

-- Continue --

Ulaven tells you, Really, anyone can learn any sort of magic, it's really quite sim-- nuts and bolts! Who is that?

Barak says, 'Halt!'

Zandra says, 'Who are you?'

Step 3: Interact with the table to restart the discussion.

Ryson tells you, Greetings, I apologize if I startled you. My name is Ryson Stormbringer, and I have come with urgent news. There has been a dark grip on my heart that's only getting stronger each passing day, and I fear the worse. I felt compelled to seek out your Gifted friend here.

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, I believe we're all well aware of who you are. Your tale of self-sacrifice has been a story of the ages. However, I thought you were bound to Spirit Isle and unable to leave, so it was a bit of a surprise for you to suddenly appear - regardless, your expertise and aid are very welcome, Sir Ryson Stormbringer.

-- Continue --

Ryson tells you, Please, just Ryson is fine. I never meant to live for fame. Now, let us discuss the problem at hand. As a Knight of Creation, I am especially aware of the frequencies of summoning magic, and I can sense a large concentration of it on this island, higher than even a Blight Anchor would channel for its tether. I fear something massive is brewing here.

-- Continue --

Barak tells you, What timing. We were just speaking of such a thing. Whatever is casting such a spell must be immensely powerful. What could the Invae want to summon to our island? There's nothing here that's any more valuable than what they can find on the mainland.

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, That's where you're wrong, Barak. We have something extremely valuable here; this is where all the newly Gifted come. If they cannot get past the barriers that protect Skalkaar or Spirit Isle, this island would be the next best choice. If they take us out here, they can prevent the Gifted from ever reaching the mainland.

-- Continue --

Ryson tells you, Wait - did you say the Invae? Pardon me if I'm wrong, but are the Invae not the faction under the leadership of the feared Maggot Lord? The one who has been residing in the Realm of Blight while plotting his return to the prime? I dare to assume the worst, but could they be summoning their leader...?

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, If that is true... our defenses would never hold! The Maggot Lord is far too powerful for our men. If he comes, it will spell our doom, and we will never be able to recover. We will be wiped out, just like the Satyr were, and the Gifted will get trapped here.

-- Continue --

Barak tells you, Calm down, Guard-Captain. At the very least, we now know what they're planning; if we can stop them before they finish this spell, we can hold our ground. There's still time.

-- Continue --

Ulaven tells you, Yes, we'll have to stop them before they can finish the spell. But... who can stand before the greatest of our enemies and hope to succeed?

-- Continue --

Zandra tells you, <player>... you need to stop this spell.
