You've left the safety net of the Gifted islands. Now, you are entering the theatre of war - and Steward Pratt McGrubben wants to be sure you know where to find your allies.

Quest text[edit]

Ah - a new Gifted! Welcome to New Trismus. What is your name?

  • My name is <player>. Thank you.

Welcome, then, <player>. It may look idyllic where we stand, but this island is at war! We could always use more assistance in the cause. Let me help you get acquainted - I assume you have just arrived?

  • Right.

Then you should bind to the shrine in the center of this square. If you were to unfortunately perish, you currently would be sent back to the very beginning of your journey - next to the shrine you woke up at! Binding to a new shrine sets a new home base for Gifted to return to by recalling, whether you're dead or alive.

Step: Visit the shrine

Bound? Good. Now, your first real task on this island will be to introduce yourself to a few of the residents. It's not very exciting, but you will soon understand how important the professions of these folks will be to you in your journey. I want you to seek out and speak to Geoff, Frelic, Resliak, Rhagool, Serena, Milicent, and Jeremiah Trueheart. That's a lot of names, I know. All of them are within the town proper, though Milicent sets up shop in this square.

Step: Find and speak with Officer Frelic

Another one! I can't say I'm unhappy there are so many Gifted, but I'm running out of supplies to spare. As a military surplus officer, I sell refurbished gear to soldiers in need of a quick bit of armor or weapons - but only when the military has extra and the dragons decide to spare some scales. Our supplies are pretty good through the start of your journey, but be prepared to make some crafty friends later.

Step: Find and speak to Milicent

Hello! Oh, how I missed seeing new faces. I had spent many years in Kion, but my pining for New Trismus always wins out. Ah, I'm getting ahead of myself. I am Milicent, an Imperial Consigner. I take your wares and sell them for you to other Gifted - for a small fee, of course. If they do not sell within a few weeks, I ship them back to your vault, free of charge.

Step: Find and speak to Jeremiah Trueheart

Hm? Hello there. Another sent from Pratt, I see. I am Jeremiah Trueheart, and I am one of the many trophy hunters here in Istaria. We offer large rewards for what are known as trophies, which are special items collected from monsters around the world. If you find yourself burdened by trophies, seek one of us out, and we will be happy to take them off your hands.

Step: Find and speak to Rhagool

A new customer! Do you have any insect guts? Shattered bones? Wraith goop? Ah, no...? Well, if you do, come to me, Rhagool, the Only Slightly Less Magnificent Than My Brother Rhahool! We and other oddities brokers deal in buying the most unnerving and the shiniest items you have. We've no interest in any "normal" stuff - send that worthless clutter to the pawnbrokers.

Step: Find and speak to Geoff

Good day, Gifted! Welcome to the General Goods Store. I am Geoff, the Pawnbroker. I am a pawnbroker and pleased to be so. We are merchants who gladly buy your spare items and offer a few unique items in return. Though, if you are in the market of selling junk or hoard items, I recommend speaking to an oddities broker. A good rule of thumb is if it's useless then it's a good bet that an oddities broker will buy it! That's why they are often called junk dealers.

Step: Find and speak to Serena

Storage! That's my thing, Gifted. Is your bag getting full? Then visit a vaultkeeper. We allow you to access your belongings from anywhere in the world, kept safe and sound in a locked vault - one per Gifted! With enough coin, you can upgrade your vault to store even more things. Of course, the initial vault space is free of charge.

Step: Finally, find and speak to Resliak the Great

Hello, Saris! I am Resliak, an envoy of the Helian faction of Dragons, here to sell you basic versions of all known spells. Take note that not all spells may be usable by your kind or current school! I sell spells of both dragon and naka'duskael origin. Be sure to look carefully before spending your coin.

Step: Return to Steward Pratt McGrubben

I see you found everyone and made it back in one piece! Now that you've learned the livelihood of the townsfolk, I'll tell you mine. I am a Town Marshall. We offer tasks to you Gifted to go and kill monsters in exchange for some coin and, generally, can also guide you to the most important people in certain regions.

  • I see. Is there anything else I need to know around here?

Just a few more important people you will want to meet. I hope you're not too tired of running yet. We will get to your training proper soon, Gifted! I promise.
