Giltekh Framtor, Alchemist Extraordinaire, received a mysterious letter that indicated Niesa, his mentor and lover, may not be dead afterall. Your search for the letter's author has led you to the Eastern Outpost and two guards that Feljat in Mahagra said witnessed the delivery of the letter by a shadowy, cloaked figure.

Quest text[edit]

Borrin tells you, <player>, if you are intent upon locating the thing that delivered the letter then your path will lead you east. *he points east of the outpost* It went that way towards the deadlands.

Ssithan says, 'Speak with Farrileth, <player>. That one is keeping watch on the gates and may have seen the figure before. As this one's people say in dire times, <player>... Keep one eye on your tail!'

Borrin says, '*snorts* What is that supposed to mean? And what if you don't have a tail? *he chuckles*'

Ssithan says, 'The meaning is simple, friend Borrin. Be watchful of what comes behind and ahead so that one is not surprised or ambushed. Be careful, be wary. Safe journey, <player>!'

Farrileth tells you, A welcome sight, you are <player>. It is a dangerous job, keeping watch over the armies of the Withered Aegis. More than once I thought for sure they'd spotted me, but I managed to duck for cover and they passed me by unmolested. What brings you into this forsaken land?

Farrileth tells you, A cloaked figure smelling of death delivered a letter to a trader at the outpost in sight of the guards? You are jesting, <player>, this tale cannot be true.

Farrileth tells you, You do not jest? Well, well. As fate would have it, I have seen a figure that is oddly similar to that which you speak of. Oh, I do not know and still am not sure I believe the part about the half-giant, the guards, and a letter, but this figure... Yes, I have seen it.

Farrileth tells you, It shambles and it blends with the blighted terrain quite well. I found it hard to track, perhaps because of this, but I suspect because it may have used other means to conceal its movements as well. Magic, would be my guess.

Farrileth tells you, I tracked it for some time as it appeared to meander around, stopping and picking at the ground or the twisted vines. At the time I thought it confused, perhaps even mad, but now I see that there may have been a greater purpose to its movements.

Farrileth tells you, You see, it was not bothered by the undead or beasts who infest this land and wandered freely through troop columns and camps alike. Oh, it did not linger in them to be sure, but they ignored it as if it was part of them or perhaps barely visible. \n( Go on. )

Farrileth tells you, Nevertheless, I managed to track it for several days until at last I was forced to turn back. *he points south at the ridge across the valley* There on the slopes beyond the invasion camps is where I stopped and returned back to my perch.
