Ancient Tombs across the Dalimond Peninsula have been desecrated by the Withered Aegis. The Tomb of Ashlander Vandus has also been disturbed and is now inhabited by the undead. Bishop Ronae il'Tor believes that a special ritual must be performed to attempt to cleanse the tomb forever.
Quest text[edit]
Ronae tells you, <player>, I have been thinking about the situation with Ashlander's Tomb. And I believe that simply destroying the undead will not solve our problem. You see, it is necromantic magics that are causing the undead to rise, of that I have no doubt. Unfortunately, what this means is that every time we destroy one, it will eventually return. What more can we do then?
Ronae tells you, Well, we must think outside of conventional terms to cleanse the tomb of the undead... We must use a ritual of powerful magic. Not just any ritual, rather we must consider using the Ritual of Eternal Rest. Not as powerful as the Ritual of Everlasting Life that created the Gifted, this Ritual is far simpler and much, much less powerful. However, it should still take care of the tomb! Or so I hope. What does it entail?
Ronae tells you, To perform this ritual we must gather together some rare components. If you will gather the components, I will prepare the spell for you to cast. There are three primary components; Fragmented Soul Shards, Pale Essence Orbs, and Purified Water. Pale Essence can be obtained from Pale Wisps or you can simply acquire the Orbs from any of the Gifted. What of the water?
Ronae tells you, Blessed Water can be found in the Pond of Harmony which lies outside of the Cleric's Tower. Use a bucket and gather the water in this flask. A Shattered Soul Shard can only be acquired from one of the Ancient Burial Guardians found within Ashlander's Tomb. That will serve as the binding agent to the spirit realm. When you have all of the items meet me at the Cleric's Tower.
Ronae tells you, Well done, <player>. I will take the components and the flask off your hands. *he pours the water into a cauldron and then adds the orbs and soul shard* Now to combine them... *he takes a large hammer and smashes the orbs and shard into powder which quickly mixes with the purified water* Yes, this will do. You see, the powder from these items will mix with the water and begin to powder the resulting mixture. --continue--
Ronae tells you, *he stirs the mixture over heat* Yes, nearly done. *amazingly the mixture has congealed into a hard crystal-like substance* The resulting mixture will be placed into a socket in your weapon and you will use it to destroy the risen Spirit of Ashlander. Only when his corrupted spirit is destroyed can the tomb at least be free of the necromantic energies.
Steps[edit]
- Speak with the Bishop
- Gather ten (10) units of Blessed Water using the Crystal Flask from the Pond of Harmony in front of the Cleric's Tower
- Acquire ten (10) Pale Essence Orbs for the Ritual of Eternal Rest
- to finish this step, you can craft them on your own, trade them off a player or buy them off a consigner.
- Acquire a Shattered Soul Shard from an Ancient Burial Guardian in Ashlander's Tomb
- Return with the ingredients to Bishop Ronae il'Tor at the Cleric's Tower. Ronae also wants the Crystal Flask back as well. Be sure you unequip it and it's in your inventory before you speak to him.
- Speak with the Bishop
