Quest text[edit]

Hello <player>. Your skills with Primal magic are now at least equal to mine. I can only advise you now. Hopefully, my tutelage has helped you, but I fear I only helped you stoke the fires of wisdom deep within. I would see you surpass me, advancing to the highest echelons of our spells. You do all of us proud, Helian and Lunus alike. You temper skill in battle with knowledge and patience. Now I can only hope your skill is enough to drive off the hordes of undead that plague us day and night and even in our dreams. I have some advice for you, if you'll take it.

There are many types of creatures prowling Istaria. Some of these are elementals, creatures made from the very elements themselves! Wind Elementals in particular, channel primal energies and are crafty, intelligent and very fast. They also let the very primordial essence of the elements guide their blows and mend their wounds. To find them, go to Morning Light and search to the southwest, in the area east of Old Rachival. They share their lands with a great many storm ogres, so be wary.

I want you to fight a few, to get a taste of their strength, then I want you to draw back and observe them for a time. Watch them, learn from them, and, when you are ready, defeat a good number of them. In this way, you will gain further insight into the very essence of Primal magic.

Find and learn from the Wind Elementals known as Seething Gales southwest of Morning Light. Defeat five of them, but as you do battle study the tactics they use against you.

Game Feedback: Enough killing for now. Find a quiet spot and just observe the wind elementals for a time.

Spend a few minutes watching and studying the elementals

Game Feedback: The elementals do little but mill about, stop and channel energy, and then return to patrolling and milling about. There seems to be neither rhyme nor reason to it. Or is that itself a pattern? Perhaps you should keep watching...

Keep watching; perhaps even chaos has a pattern...

Game Feedback: After much pondering and philosophizing, an epiphany strikes you like a bolt of lightning. There is no pattern! The strength of Primal magic is its chaotic, untamed nature. These elementals are neither friend nor foe. They simply ARE.

You have the wisdom you sought; it is time to test their mettle.

Defeat five more Wind Elementals using what you have learned as you studied them.

Game Feedback: Sure enough, there is neither rage nor malice in these constructs. They are of a single mindedness, to kill those unlike themselves. Their power in Primal magic comes from being swept up in it, but not by it. They are both a vessel and a channel for Primal energies. Return to Lisandia and think on what you have learned.

Return to Lisandia and tell her what you have learned.

You have returned. You seem... enlightened, perhaps? Or are you merely distracted? Tell me what you have learned...

I see. If I were you, I'd meditate on this deeply. I am glad you found your answers, <player>, but you are no longer my student. The full mystery of Primal magic lives within you. Use it wisely, and use it well.

Please don't forget the old dragoness who aided you in your journey, however. I may ask for your services again someday, you never know. Now, be on your way, and know that I am proud to have been your teacher.

Wind to thy wings, heat to thy flame, and pride to thy heart, <player>, Child of Drulkar.
