Estelwen tells you, Good day, <player>, what could I help you with today? Basil?! BASIL?! Is this some kind of joke? Did Velma put you up to this? I've already talked to her about this and I'm really not in the mood...
Estelwen tells you, Oh! You need the processing recipe. Umm, ah, well, that's different. I'm sorry, <player>, I really am. I shouldn't have jumped on you like that. It's just that things have not gone well today and I'm just a little upset right now.
Estelwen tells you, This morning I was teaching some new confectioners how to prepare a basic Barasavus sauce. I'd just finished putting the seasonings in when one of the students, Private Arlinne, got up and started looking around like she was trying to find something.
I asked her if she was looking for something and she said, "Yes, basil." I told her I had just chopped up the last of it and added it to the sauce. She got the strangest look on her face and said, "You put basil in the sauce?"
I said, "Of course, you get the best flavor when it's fresh." That was when she started screaming!
Estelwen tells you, I couldn't believe it. She just stood there with a blank look for a moment, then started crying and collapsed on the floor. She kept saying "Basil, basil, basil", over and over again. I finally got her attention and asked her what was wrong. She glared at me and said, "You butchered Basil, that's what! I know he was only a rat, but he was my pet and I loved him!" I just stared at her and said, "Rat?"
Estelwen tells you, A rat! A pet rat named Basil, in fact. I couldn't believe it. A rat, in my kitchen! I wanted to strangle her! I said, "You brought in a rat and gave it free run on my kitchen? The Imperial Office of Food Health & Safety could close me down for that!" Then she tells me that during classes, the rat stays in a little rat house set up inside her cargo disk. Well, we all go outside to look at this little floating rat mansion, and guess who's inside it, sound asleep on a pile of silk pillows? Right! The rat!
Estelwen tells you, Look, I'm delighted that she has a pet that brings her so much joy, but a Saris confectioner with a pet rat just seems, well, wrong! It brings a new meaning to 'playing with your food'! Ugggh! Well, anyway, Arlinne left and I thought it was all over. I was wrong.
Sethos Bakiri, the Saris representative on the Imperial Council, shows up wanting to know how I missed someone bringing a rat into my kitchen. Then he starts picking up hairs off the floor and asking me where they came from. I told him they were Saris hairs, and that if he was that worried about it he should require his people to wear full-body hairnets when they cook! That really made him mad.
Estelwen tells you, So, now I'm looking at an inspection by FH&S, and if they don't like what they find, they can close me down! I keep my kitchen clean, but now it has to be spotless! I hate to ask you for a favor, but it would help me out a lot. I wrote letters of apology to Private Arlinne and Sethos Bakiri, but I can't deliver them because I have to clean my kitchen. Could you please deliver them for me? It would help me out a lot, and I promise I'll find a little something extra for you in my recipe book. Will you take care of these for me, please?

Arlinne tells you, Estelwen sent me an apology? Well, that's very nice of her, but I didn't ask her to for one. Still, it would be rude not to at least see what she has to say. Hmm. Well, she certainly sounds sincere. To tell the truth, I really feel foolish for behaving like that.
Would you be willing to do me a small favor? I just finished making a batch of fudge because this dragon, Kephren, said it would help me feel better. Well, it didn't. I think he wanted the fudge for himself, really. You never can tell with dragons. Anyway, you can have the recipe he gave me if you'll take the fudge to Estelwen. Give her my apologies, and tell her I promise that in the future I'll make sure Basil stays well out of her kitchen. Thank you so much!

Estelwen tells you, Oh, Arlinne sent me some fudge? How sweet of her. I'm so glad we've gotten all of this resolved. Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it. I think that Food Health & Safety will understand what happened once I get a chance to explain everything. Now, here's the recipe for preparing basil - the herb, not the rat! I also found a wonderful recipe for crab cakes that my friend Moirainia gave me a few years ago. Thank you again for all your help!
