Quest text[edit]

Good morning <player>. What could I help you with today? Ah, learning about bay leaves! Well, using them is fairly simple, and I think I have a recipe or two that you might enjoy. If you don't mind running a small errand for me, I can get them copied down for you by the time you get back.

Oh, no, there's no danger involved. I just need you to deliver this grocery order to Old Man Jenkins. He lives to the northeast of town, up on the north end of Dalimond Ridge. Some people say he's a crazy old hermit, but I think he just likes his privacy. There's a windmill a short distance north of his property, but I suggest you avoid it. A fellow named Sly Loki lives there and he is nothing but trouble. Now, here's the package, and I'll see you when you get back.

Don't scuff up my lawn, mortal! You walk on sacred ground here. And keep away from my fish! Don't make me wrathful. You wouldn't like me when I'm wrathful.

Oh, you're delivering groceries? Why didn't you say so! Put them down immediately, before something painful & messy leaves little bits of you all over my nice fresh vittles! How did you get stuck with this job, anyway? Switch Julie's salt & sugar when she wasn't looking? Wash a mushroom instead of brushing it? Ask her to try a bite of trout ice cream?

Bay leaf? What's to know? Let it dry, drop it in your soup, take it out before serving! There! Now I'm a Confectioner trainer too, haha!

That's your cue, mortal. Laugh! There you go! Hahahahaha!

You're a good sport, mortal. The fish approve of you, right by the scales of their finny fin fins, and they say I should reward you. Keep nodding, mortal, it shows you have wisdom. The fish say I should share a secret with you. What secret? THE secret! The secret of the food of the very Gods themselves! The secret... of the pizza roll!

Close your mouth, mortal, you are not a codfish. Yet. You're speechless, I can tell. Take the scroll. Learn the secrets. Cook the pizza roll. Then, you'll understand. It was one of you mortals who dropped the scroll, years ago. A Saris she was, and Ani was her name-oh. What? Of course I know her name! It was written on the scroll!

You're making less sense than you mortals usually do, which is a sure sign your doom is approaching. Off with you! Your doom is sure to be a messy one, and I don't want it happening here. Away, or I'll release the fish and let them chase you back to the very gates of Dalimond!

Back already? How was your trip? Oh, that's normal. He threatens to set his fish on me all the time when I go up there. He gave you a recipe? Well, that's interesting. May I see it?

Oh, my, this is too funny. My friend Ani Puma gave me this recipe a couple of years ago and I promptly lost it. I must have dropped it while making a delivery up to Old Man Jenkins! Can I have just a minute to copy it down, finally? I'll be right back!

Julie appears to have finished copying the recipe.

Thank you so much for letting me copy that down. I had already made you a copy of a wonderfully decadent rice pudding recipe. I got it from a dragon named Azraiel a few years ago. I have no idea how a dragon learns to make rice pudding, but it's fantastic.

Anyway, I wanted to give you something for finding Ani's recipe, so I also made you a copy of a recipe for something called rock candy. When my friend Shalindra told me about it, I thought it was sugar-coated stoneroot or something, but it's really very tasty. Last but not least, here is the bay leaf recipe I promised you. Now, please forgive me, but I have more orders to finish. Thank you again for all your help!
