Quest Text[edit]

Estelwen tells you, Hello, <Player>, what could I help you with today? Nightshade? Sure, I can find a processing recipe for you! I just need you to clean 10,000 mushrooms, using only a very small brush and no water.

Estelwen tells you, Haha, gotcha! Just kidding! I only said that to make your actual task look enjoyable by comparison. You see, I don't like teaching the preparation & use of nightshade. If you aren't a dragon, a fiend, or Gifted, the stuff can be lethal. I want you to learn from someone who really knows what they're doing. Go to Kirasanct and talk to Jenria Coventry. She'll teach you what you need to know. Don't worry; she hasn't lost a student yet!

Jenria tells you, Sure, I can teach you about nightshade. I'll be happy to, in fact - once I'm sure you are really a confectioner. I want you to make me some fudge. Ten servings of nice, gooey Sslanisian chocolate fudge. And some warm, salty pretzels. Ten of those, too. No, I'm not going to tell you where to find the recipes. You're a confectioner, figure it out yourself. As the elves might say, come back with your fudge, or on it!

Fillet tells you, Sslanisian chocolate fudge? Of course Fillet knows the recipe! Rhyssa of the Gifted gave the recipe to Fillet years ago, and Fillet has made it many times. Salty pretzels as well? Hmm, yes, Fillet has a recipe from Senk, another of the Gifted, for salty pretzels. A moment, please, and Fillet will make copies for <Player>.

Fillet appears to be finished with copying the recipes..

Fillet tells you, Here are the recipes <Player> asked for. Now, if <Player> has no other needs, there are many large and lovely shrimps begging to be cleaned and added into Fillet's pot of jambalaya. Good eating, <Player>!

Looks like you're finished cooking. Take the snacks you made to Jenria in Kirasanct..

Jenria tells you, Well, that about covers it. Just watch what you're doing and all your customers should be fine. Of course, if they're Gifted, I suppose it doesn't matter if your food is deadly as long as it's properly seasoned, hmm?

You have what you came for. If there's nothing else, you should probably run back to whatever hollow tree you found the little cookie maker in and get on with your life. Good day.

Charming, isn't she?

Estelwen tells you, Well, how was your talk with Jenria? She said WHAT? Now, I love nature as much as any other elf does, but baking cookies inside a hollow tree has to be stupidest idea since the collapsing spear shaft! Bark and branch, what is wrong with her?! I hate to ask you to run another errand, <Player>, but I'm not going to put up with her snippy little comments any more. She's a fiend; she should understand the concept of payback.

Estelwen tells you, I want you to take these coins and go to New Rachival. Talk to Kodess. She's a senior member of the New Rachival Research Institute, and I want to hire the NRRI to prove that hollow trees are not an acceptable environment for baking in! I want them to show Jenria the results of their experiments, and I want them to have flip charts. Lots and lots of flipcharts. Here's a little coin to make it worth your while. Come back when you're done and I'll have your recipes.

Kodess tells you, Baking cookies in a hollow tree? I can think of a few worse ideas, but most of those involve either a great deal of ale or high explosives. Sometimes in conjunction. Oh, do any of her recipes involve alchemical accelerants? No, probably not, they taste terrible. Tell Estelwen we'll have her proof in two days. Three at the most. The NRRI is on the case!

Estelwen tells you, Two or three days? Excellent. Revenge is a dish best served with lots of statistics and flip charts! Anyway, I'm sorry to have gotten you involved with all this. You've been more than understanding and I want you to know I appreciate all your help. Since you were asking about nightshade, I copied down two recipes which showcase it. I got both of them from Gifted friends of mine, Jayne and Cherute. I think they're both based on traditional Fiendish recipes, but it's rather hard to find an authentic cookbook so you could compare them. Thank you again for all your help, and good eating to you!
