Quest text[edit]

Julie tells you, Hello <player>, how could I help you today? A recipe for processing ginseng? Of course! That will just take me a moment. It's funny that you should show up with that, actually. Have you met Velma, the Confectioner Liaison to the Imperial Council? She just sent out this message asking for us to report any incidents of gnomes getting dangerously over-stimulated from consumption of certain foods, including ginseng.

Julie tells you, I know, that's a horrible stereotype, but apparently some members of the Council are afraid of what could happen if gnomes were to be experimenting with dangerous devices or compounds while under the influence of potent stimulants. If you don't mind giving me a hand for a few minutes, I want to run a little experiment and gather some hard data for the Council to chew on. Are you interested?

Julie tells you, This box contains two vials of lemon water and two vials of "Wake-Up Juice" a very stimulating beverage concocted by one of the Gifted, Khoal. If this stuff will get a dragon up and going in the morning, it should work wonders on a gnome. What I'd like you to do is take the box to New Rachival and ask three people to pick a vial, drink it, and tell you how they feel afterwards.

I want you to talk to Captain Bixben Lindnottin, Mayor Berenrick, and Town Marshal Dezwar. I picked those three because they all have solid reputations with the Imperial Council for being honest and disciplined. I think their testimony will be enough to settle this issue once & for all.

Drink an unknown liquid during duty hours? Sure! Anything in the name of science, right? Let's see, I guess I'll take bottle 'C' here. Hmm, it certainly smells interesting. Well, here's to the Empire!

Hmm. Well, I wouldn't give up my morning klava for it, but it's nice and tangy. Can't say I feel any different, one way or another. Is that all you needed? Alright then! Good day to you, <player>, and may all your results be repeatable!

All this folderol about gnomes being dangerous when over-stimulated is utter rubbish, and I'd be delighted to help prove it! Bottle 'A', if you please. Thank you. Hmm, well, that didn't taste like much. Doesn't seem to be doing much, either. I'll let you know if anything changes, <player>, but right now I'd say that whatever I drank is as harmless as klava, but not nearly as tasty.

Personal contact of any type with an unidentified liquid is against all reason and common sense, friend. Therefore, I'll try 'D'. Hmm, well, nice & tangy. Got a good bounce to it. It's not klava, but it's good. Nope, no ill effects as far as I can tell. Anything else? Fair enough, Citizen. Have a good day.

All three have tried their vials. Report back to Julie with the results.

None of them felt any odd side effects? How interesting. Captain Lindnottin had the lemon water, so that's to be expected, but the other two drank the full serving of 'Wake-Up Juice', and should have reported at least some invigorating effects. Did they say anything else at all?

They all compared it to klava, hmm? I think I'll leave that little detail out of my report. I don't see how it's relevant. Well, thank you very, very much for your help. Here's a copy of the ginseng recipe you asked for. I also made you a copy of the 'Wake-Up Juice' recipe, in case you want to try it for yourself. Good journeys to you, and thank you again for all your help!
