Any self-respecting Gifted should know how to toughen yourself up with the use of a few spells. Sadie will teach you how.

Quest text[edit]

Sadie tells you, Once you're out in the big wide world, you'll be on your own, <player>! You're going to need to know how to keep yourself fit as a fiddle. One way of doing that is using magical spells to increase your skills and abilities.

  • But how? I've no magic skills to speak of.

Sadie tells you, That is true, but most schools can cast spells if they've learned a little bit about clerics or mages. A few rare spells don't need magic knowledge at all - only knowledge of the weapons you use. For Scouts, these are the Gift of Hunter and Gift of Colossus. They are gift spells that you can cast to increase your skills or damage output respectively.

  • Gift?

Sadie tells you, Gift spells are special and powerful spells. Most spells are simple augmentations that can work alongside each other, but Gift spells have a limit. As you get stronger, you can have up to five active at once. For now, you can only have one. Here, try this spell out.

You have received 1 Spell: Gift of Hunter I.

The spell surges through your veins, empowering you with a keener knowledge of ranged combat skills.

Sadie tells you, Feel that? Powerful, isn't it? Just like you, enemies can use augmentations that increase their own power. In the future, you may also see abilities that can dispel these beneficial effects, or come across spells and abilities that cast negative effects on others. This is more common with the Withered Aegis.

  • How do I get more spells?

Sadie tells you, Here in New Trismus, Resliak the Great sells many spells, but most are crafted by Gifted like you. Scholars and spellcrafters are knowledgeable in piecing together spells. For a scout, you largely will not be using spells, so do not worry yourself too much. For now, I just want you to try out your new power.

  • -- Continue --

Sadie tells you, Gift of Hunter in this state is only a small increase, but a little goes a long way. Go find the Agh'kuk Scouts. They're pretty intelligent little creatures and may cast some augments and ailments of their own. Cull five of them, then return here. They are located by the Lookout Camp. Do you see the odd beach with the four rocks on your map, on the west side of the island? That's where their tribe is located.

You have slain enough Agh'kuk Scouts. Return to Sadie.

Sadie tells you, Agh'kuk Scouts are curious creatures, aren't they? They put up a good fight. I hope the Gift you casted served you well. Be sure to refresh it every few hours - the effects only last so long. Before we move on, I want to give you knowledge of one last piece of magic.

  • What is that?

Sadie tells you, Scholars are known for being able to craft scrolls. Scrolls are unique items that contain the magic of a spell, but do not need knowledge of spellcasting to use. They have a wide variety of uses - from shielding you to aiding in travel - but I only have a few simple ones on me. Take them. They can help you in your travels. If you want more, you'll need to find a Gifted scholar or learn the trade yourself!

You have received 3 Enhance Armor I.

You have received 3 Enhance Health I.
