Shau grieves for the wife he loves and was forced to kill. He wishes to assist her in the afterlife by providing her with gifts of appeasement that she can give to Varrantoth to help sway his decision about her fate.
Quest text[edit]
Let us discuss what more we can do to honor Taur-el and help her in the afterlife, <player>. In the battle to come, strength and endurance are necessary components, but one must also try to win the favor of the god. We must find ways to appease him, to appeal to his vanity, in order to ease Taur-el's passage in the afterlife.
- What can we do for her now?
Varrantoth is vain, <player>. Are you surprised to hear me say that about my own god? Do not be, we Welger value honesty and there is nothing more honest than laying bare one's faults. I would do so for myself, for you, for Taur-el, and even my god.
- What can we do to appeal to his vanity?
Yes, now you're thinking like a Welger! We must find items that are rare, unique, and have notoriety. In the east this would be a simple matter as there are always relics and precious treasures looted from other Welger or races that we battled against. Here in the west, however, it may prove somewhat more challenging.
- What can we do then?
Fortunately for us, the army of the Welger is here. That means that the priests likely brought many relics with them, including the royal cache. I am somewhat familiar with that cache, having contributed a number of treasures to it over the years.
- Are there any relics we can use from that cache?
There are most certainly some, but I am unsure how much was brought. Fortunately for us I have heard rumors of a very potent relic. Many years ago my father, Kroel, faced a powerful wyvern known as Nagoff in single combat. The wyvern had a reputation for hunting lesser Welger and my father tracked it down and decapitated it.
- Gruesome!

I suppose, but the skull of this wyvern was brought back to the palace, covered in gold-leaf, and mounted in the throne room. I have heard that the skull was brought to the Ruin by General Got'au. Return to the ruin and locate the general and the skull. The general's tent should be near the 3rd Troop for it was always his to command so search in the vicinity of the western side.

You found it! It is more magnificent than I remembered, the General must have polished it. Yes, this should definitely appease Varrantoth. The gold, the glitter, the magnificence of it.
