Quest text[edit]

Taiwen tells you, We struck a bargain, <player>, and never let it be said that a Welger does not live up to her agreements. We may be prone to violence, even loathed by many, but we are honorable and we do what we say even if it brings us pain.

  • The Ara'torak?

Taiwen tells you, Yes, yes, the drink. I have it right here, take it back to Shau and please tell him I grieve for the loss of Taur-el. Her like will not be seen again amongst our people...

Shau tells you, You return and I see that you carry a jug of something... Ara'torak I hope?

  • Yes, it is. Taiwen grieves for your loss.

Shau tells you, I thank you for conveying her message, <player>, and for acquiring the Ara'torak. To find some here in the west is welcome news. Allow me to take it and to gift it to Varrantoth to slake his thirst and help ease Taur-el's passage in the afterlife.

Shau tells you, Thank you, <player>. Varrantoth the Enduring should now be well appeased and look favorably upon Taur-el.

  • What is it?

A crystal, but there is an additional price; a tale. Many years ago when Taur-el and I were young and just married we spent many weeks exploring the mountains far and wide. I visited the great city of the Satyr, Bachan, before it fell and even spied the towering trees of Palmyra from a distance.

  • That was more than a hundred years ago!

He laughs.

Almost two hundred years, in fact. I am older than I look, I suppose. Nevertheless, Taur-el and I discovered many wonders in our travels. One day we were deep in the mountains and found a number of waterfalls. I do not think I can describe how truly wondrous a sight it was, <player>. Water fell over a ridge that stretched for almost a mile and the bottom was shrouded in a great mist from the sheer volume of water that fell!

  • What did you do?

What any young one would do, <player>! We explored it! Well, not entirely, as I said, it was truly immense. We worked our way down the cliffside to the bottom and began exploring the rivers and lakes that dotted the lands below. There beneath the falls we found an island barely large enough for twenty trees to grow, but covered with the ruins of an ancient temple.

  • To which god?

I have no idea! The markings were so faded with age and weathered by the mists that we could make out none of it... but in the center of the temple stood an obelisk and embedded in the ancient, weathered stone we found this crystal. Taur-el called it the Crystal of Echoes and she treasured it only slightly less than her belt and axe. It is this crystal that I give to you, for I cannot bear to have it near me any longer without my wife at my side... and because you have helped honor an enemy and there is little more worthy of praise. Use it well, <player>.
