Shau grieves for the wife he loves and was forced to kill. He has decided that because she held true to her ideals in spite of her love for him, she should be given such honors as are within his power in exile. You agreed to help and he has begun to lay out his plan.

Quest text[edit]

As you can see, I have buried my wife in a shallow grave nearby. You may be thinking, what of the scavengers nearby, won't they disturb her burial? In my homeland the dead were buried near the family home and a watch set on the graves of the newly fallen as well as our ancestors.

  • Always?

Of course, <player>, to do otherwise would be to dishonor them and leave them at the mercy of scavengers. Their bodies must be protected while they stand before our god.

  • What happens now that your people are here?

A look of pain crosses his face.

I fear the scavengers may disturb many of the graves of my people, <player>. It is a cause for great sorrow, but also anger at the Withered Aegis for inflicting such a dishonor upon my people. I would not have Taur-el suffer a similar fate!

  • I understand.

The first thing we must obtain is a headstone for the grave. Without a headstone Taur-el could be forgotten once I am gone and those who aren't remembered have no way to remain in the presence of Varrantoth. Those who are lost cannot be guarded for who would know who they were or why they should be protected?

  • What kind of headstone?

Welger seem to prize Satyr craft for their headstones. You have already met a Satyr in Kaiyar: maybe he can help you.

In the east, given her status amongst my people, she would have been afforded all manner including an elaborate tomb. Some of the wealthy, centuries ago, even paid to have the Satyr carve the likeness of the fallen into the stone itself. I fear we cannot do something so elaborate here, but at the very least we must find a stone to mark her grave. Please, <player>, find a stone that will not be worn by the sands and wind for me to mark her resting place.

Good day, Gifted. What can I do for you?

  • I need to ask you about a headstone.

A headstone? I am a Healer, I take care of the living, not the dead.

  • I know, but maybe you could tell me where I can find one of Satyr origin. I heard your people was doing marvels in Bachan.

Like in Bachan? *he ponders* I heard a Satyr sculptor lives in the outskirts of Dalimond. His name is Kisgrath. You should ask him.

A new customer, greetings! Are you looking for a fire-breathing Dragon carved in the finest marble? Or a proud Dwarf made of granite? Tell me about your fantasy, I will make it a reality in stone!

  • I am looking for a headstone made in the style of Bachan.

Oh... this is an unusual request. It is not beyond my skills, but traditional Bachan style requires some slate from Dahibi and silver from Corvus for inlays. These are rare materials and I don't have any. If you bring me some Dahibian Slate Bricks and Corvian Silver Bars, I would be able to do it.

  • Where can I find these materials?

As Satyrs Islands are still swarmed by the Withered Aegis, it isn't safe to go there. But there is a merchant, Siflanis, that trades Satyr goods. She has probably some for you. She is a bit eccentric and lives alone in a tower of Sanctuary Forest east of Tishlar. I know it sounds weird for a merchant to be that far from cities, but she is renown in her field and customers don't hesitate to travel to buy her wares. I am sorry, Saris, but you will have to walk a while.

Another one that passes my door. I am sorry, but I have already sold all my pieces of pottery from Island of Talinis and I am waiting for a new delivery.

  • I am looking for Dahibian Slate Bricks and Corvian Silver Bars.

I don't have processed bricks and bars anymore. But I still have raw resources and formulas you need to make them. Browse my wares and buy what you need to craft them by yourself or to bring them to a skilled crafter.

You have acquired sufficient Dahibian Slate Bricks.

You have the materials Kisgrath was asking for. Return to him.

Have you found the materials for the Satyr Islands? Awesome! I can craft your headstone. Which name shall I put on it?

  • Taur-el.

An uncommon name. Please give me a moment.

The headstone depicts a scenery of a Satyr family enjoying herself in a beautiful garden and having food. You didn't expect this on a headstone. It is nicely sculpted with fine silver engravings, the characters seem nearly alive. It is a state-of-the-art craftsmanship which should please Shau. Return to him.

Here you go. And please express my condolences to the family.

Have you found a suitable headstone for Taur-el?

  • Please have a look.

But... it is from Bachan? How... how could you find that?

  • I found a Satyr sculptor who was able to recopy the proper style.

You have given me a great gift, <player>. Thank you, let me place the stone above her grave.

This headstone is worthy of the Empress she was.
