Shau grieves for the wife he loves and was forced to kill. He wishes to assist her in the afterlife by providing her with items of endurance to help her in her battles with Varrantoth and other Welger.
Quest text[edit]
We have fed Taur-el's body and given her the endurance to fight, <player>, but we must do more to nourish and protect her in the afterlife. We must feed her Kandr'assa if she is to survive long in her fight against Varrantoth the Implacable.
- What is Kandr'assa?
Hm. I do not know what you call it, but it is your life essence. Every living being has it, without it you are but a husk and no better than the undead the Gifted fight against.
- Life force and essence, understood.
Without her body, Taur-el needs essence in order to survive in the afterlife. We are not Gifted, so therefore we must seek out other means of feeding her spirit.
- Such as what?
The Welger are much practiced in this type of magic, blood-magic you would call it. The adepts of Varrantoth collect orbs containing life essence from their sacrifices and with the invasion of your greatest city they must have collected many thousands of orbs from both mine and your people.
- That is terrible!
I am of two minds about it, I must admit. It is an ancient practice of my people and in my younger days I would have thought nothing of it... but, I have met you, learned that other races can indeed be honorable, and I have seen the other side of things. I cannot say that I find it abhorrent, but in light of what the Withered Aegis have done to my people and yours, I begin to question if my people should continue the practice. Perhaps there is something we can do to stop it, to benefit both of our peoples. To "kill two birds with one stone" I believe is the saying, yes?
- Yes.
Good. You should return to the Ruin then and obtain an Orb of Kandr'assa from the cache near the Bloodwall. Be sure you have some keys on you, the chests are more than likely locked. While you are there, you should kill some of the Priests of Varrantoth to slow down the harvesting of life essence.
Very good. Yes, this Orb will be more than sufficient. I am afraid I do not know if this Orb was made from one of my own people or yours, but regardless it will support Taur-el in the afterlife. I will go apply it to her grave.

Steps[edit]
- Speak with Shau at his camp
- Obtain an Orb of Kandr'assa from a cache of chests near the Bloodwall in the Ruin of Tazoon. Remember you need keys to open the chests.
- Kill ten (10) Priests of Varrantoth (Varan Priests, Varan Adepts, any High Priests) who are found throughout the Ruin of Tazoon, but concentrated near the Bloodwall
- Return to Shau at his camp south of the Ruin of Tazoon
