Shau grieves for the wife he loves and was forced to kill. He wishes to assist her in the afterlife by providing her with items of strength to help her in her battles with Varrantoth and other Welger.
Quest text[edit]
Angwu tells you, What did you need help with?
- I need to find Taur-el's battle axe
Angwu tells you, You are looking for Kimak Torin? She does not have it with her then?
- Taur-el is dead. Shau wants to bury the axe with her
Angwu tells you, You are the one who challenged her and was victorious! I had heard rumors, but I did not believe them. So, she is dead... The world is dimmer for her absence.
- She tried to kill Shau.
Angwu tells you, Of course she did! She wouldn't have been who she was if she had compromised her ideals, even for the one she loved. I might do it myself if faced with such a choice, though I would stand little chance against Shau. Now I begin to understand why you seek her axe.
- I searched her prison, but did not find it.
Angwu tells you, I am not surprised. The priests were quite incensed, not just at the death of her gaoler, whom you killed, but also when she went to the arena to fight you. I found it odd because they should have rejoiced at her death, but now I suspect they were upset because the axe was not there. It would have been a coveted relic for the adepts and priests of Varrantoth.
- Could one of them have taken it?
Angwu tells you, Given the furor you left behind, I find it unlikely. Besides, I heard a rumor that made no sense to me at the time... but now, it begins to be more clear. As you know, the Withered Aegis cabal has agents here in the Ruin.
- One of these agents has it?
Angwu tells you, Yes, that is the rumor I have heard. Well, not that specific, but the rumor was that one of the necromancers who accompanied the army had acquired an Artifact of Power once owned by the royal house. That can only be the axe you seek!
- Where is this necromancer?
Angwu tells you, Check the west gate, I have heard that the Cabal was searching for something there.
Angwu tells you, Varrantoth's Fury, this place is cursed, <player>.
You have found Taur-el's battle-axe!
Shau tells you, You found it! Taur-el's spirit will be overjoyed to wield her axe once again. Let us hope in her hands the axe will taste the blood of Varrantoth itself!
Shau tells you, Stay your spells and your weapons, Saris, I will not harm you if you do not try to do the same. Yes, I can understand you and you can understand me. Shall we agree to a truce? There are matters to discuss. As I believe the Elves say, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".
Steps[edit]
- Speak to Angwu about Shau's request
- Search beyond the west gate of the Ruin for agents of the Cabal
- Triggers at 23564/25368(map)
- Kill eight (8) of the Risen Pillagers beyond the west gate of the Ruin
- Defeat Tordak the Betrayer beyond the west gate of the Ruin of Tazoon
- Recover Taur-el's Battle-Axe from the corpse of Tordak the Betrayer
- Return to Shau at his camp south of the Ruin of Tazoon with Taur-el's Battle-Axe
