Quest text[edit]

Sigrun tells you, The letter I would have you seek was set down on the eve of battle, and in it I sought to say all the words of love I could never bring myself to say while I lived. Sadly, the undead have no regard for the cares of the living. When they found it in my pack, they tore it to pieces and scattered it along with everything else I once called mine.

Please, as you battle the creatures that fill this horrible place, keep watch for the fragments of my letter. It may take some time to find all of the pieces, as any of the undead may have found them over these past years. They may even have found their way into the burrows and nests of the scorpions and crabs, for those creatures are inclined to feast on the remains of the dead when they can.

Once you do have them, though, I pray you will return and tell me of your success. Brobbet's strength and my gratitude go with you.

Sigrun's spirit touches the collection of battered and torn paper scraps to her ghostly lips, and in a moment the parchments are made whole, clean and unmarred as the night she set her thoughts to paper. The letter is sealed once more, inscribed "Knut Granite-Skull, Aughundell".

Sigrun tells you, Thank you so much for retrieving my letter, <player>. It may seem to be a thing of little consequence when measured against the thunder and strife that blankets our land, yet it has burdened me with years of restlessness and lamentations. Now, I beg one last indulgence of you: Carry my words back with you to Aughendell and my beloved Knut, that this small part of me may at last come home.

Knut tells you, Steel be with you this day, <player>! What brings you to Aughundell? A message for me, eh? From your look, I'd say you have a tale to tell me as well. Let me fix us a drink, and then we shall attend to your tale.

Knut tells you, Ah, Sigrun... It is hard news you bear, friend, but I would rather know the way of it than live in doubt even a single day longer. It is a great kindness you have done me, and it would be remiss of me not to show you my gratitude. I'd like you to have this crystal. I had hoped to give it to Sigrun when she returned, but that wasn't what fate had planned for us. Use it well, friend. Now, if you will pardon me, I mean to hoist a fair few tankards of mead in salute to what might have been. Axe high, <player>!
