Blarto and company have been keeping an eye on what is happening in The Observatory for quite a while now. While they haven't noticed an increase in activity, no one has actually tried to go into the Observatory itself in months. So he's sending you.

Quest text[edit]

Blarto tells you, You'd like to know more about the Observatory. Well, I can tell you what I know, which in truth is sadly little. I came here in hopes of learning more about what happened myself, by my research has been halted on many an occasion due to the shear numbers of Aegis and automatons which inhabit the area. My companions and I have been driven out of the area many times, and all too often with one or more of us seriously wounded. Until something changes, I'm afraid my soirees into the old Observatory are halted. But of course I will tell you what I know.

Blarto tells you, The Observatory fell in the year 14 BR to the Aegis and has been held by them ever since. No one yet knows how they even made it onto the Dalimond Peninsula, but all know of the destruction they caused along the way. So much was lost, and even the greatest of scholars can not tell you all that may have come from the experiments and observations that the gnomes who lived and worked in the Observatory may have learned by now. What we do know, that I am certain of now, is that the Aegis goal in invading Dalimond was to gain control of the Observatory. I'm certain that they both had and still have plans to use this area as a staging ground for their invasion.

Blarto tells you, You should gather friends and enter the ruined observatory yourself, <Player>. I can provide you with a map though I'm not sure how accurate it will be any more. It should be enough to lead you to the base of the Observatory. Once there, make your way inside if you are able. I am convinced that there is some one or some thing inside that is controlling the many lesser undead that surround the observatory.

Approach from the east, here. There is a small break in the mountains on the eastern edge of the blighted area that should allow you to pass through safer. It still will not be safe, as there are occasional patrols that wander through there.

Surrounding the base of the observatory are small green glowing statues. They appear to be equally placed every few meters around the base. As one are marked on your map, they are most likely something new. You should report this to Blarto immediately...

Blarto tells you, Oh no. It is worse than I feared. Yes those stone statues were not there when last I entered the area. They must have been recently constructed by the someone or something that has been inside the Observatory for quite some time now. You are the first to have entered through the gate in weeks. They must be being built by those machines, the automatons. You've got to go back, <Player>. Return to the Observatory and destroy some of the automatons. That will slow the building of any more of these statues, whatever they are... I will send a report immediately back to Minisa.

Having destroyed the automatons will hopefully mean that whatever was happening in this area has been disrupted. It's time to report back to Blarto and see what he's found...

Blarto tells you, Minisa wrote back to us. She is disturbed by this news. Give me a moment to read her report again and I will share with you what she feels we should do.

Steps[edit]

  • Blarto sent you on a scouting mission that even ha and his companions can't complete, in other words. You may want to bring friends. Follow the road out of the Outpost and across the plains avoiding the B'nari if you can, and make your way to The Observatory itself.
  • Report back to Blarto with information about the stone statues.
  • Enter The Observatory area and destroy 10 of the Automatons.
  • Talk to Blarto.
