Quest text[edit]

A fine day to you and yours, friend <player>. Least wise would be a fine day were it not for the report I just read. You've heard about the Chiconis Battlefield, have ya not? And how the dragons fought off the Aegis invasion? You have not!?! Well, you need to. Come, sit and listen.

Happened nearly twenty years ago now, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I'd been marching along in the hills east of Chiconis, heading from Izzon Crest to Selen. We'd left about half the company behind in Izzon's due to some reports that at the time we thought were very odd, sightings of the dead coming across the bay out of nowhere, and just disappearing into nowhere again. As we came to the top of one of the mountains and looked down at the beach and out across the rocky shore, though, we saw where those walking dead had been going. I'd never seen such a horrific sight and don't ever want to see it again.

There laid out below were dozens of dragons laying dead or dying, and hundreds more filled the skies and ground fighting one of the fiercest battles against the Aegis that these eyes have ever seen. My men and I just stood and watched. We were only a small company to start with, so there weren't many of us making our way to Selen as it was, and I'm sure after our march we didn't look nearly as bad as some of the walking dead that the dragons fought, so there wasn't anything more we could do. Least wise not without risking being as more in the way as we would have been help. And by the time we got there, the tide of the battle seemed to be turning. I spoke with one of the mighty dragons after the last of the Aegis was slain. He'd said the battle had lasted days, and none could figure where the corruption had come from, but they'd laid it to rest once and for all. Or so we all thought at the time.

That report I mentioned. It says that folks who've been mining silver in those hills have seen forced out, chased by angry spirits. They've begun calling them "Tainted Spirits" there's so many of them in there now. I'm sending you in to investigate. If you find any of these "Tainted Spirits", I want you to do away with them.

Travel to the site of the Chiconis Battlefield. The battlefield lies east of Chiconis and west of Selen. Jeffery mentioned a rocky shoreline overlooking the bay in his tale of the battle. Once there, destroy 20 of the corrupted undead that have returned to haunt this area.

Game Feedback: Having returned the undead that wander around this area, it is now time to return to Jeffery and confirm the reports he'd had that the dead from the battle fought long ago have once again risen and are haunting this area.

Return to Jeffrey with your report.

It is as I feared. Thank you, <player>. Though the news is not what I had hoped, I know now that we'll need to investigate further why the dead have risen again.
