At the Mayor's behest you have looted several of the Books of Telak which contain the teachings of the Cult. The Mayor saw little value in them, but Hubert Hufflebing believes they may contain something of value in the fight against the Cult.

Quest text[edit]

Hubert tells you, <Player>, I suggest taking this to a scholar who would know more. The first that comes to mind would be In'athoi at the Tower of Healing. Go there, take this book, and learn what you can about its secrets.

You have received 1 Book of Telak.

In'athoi tells you, Good day to you, <Race>. How may I assist you? The knowledge of the Dryad is boundless and all will benefit from our teachings.

In'athoi tells you, A book of teachings regarding the deity known as Telak? Indeed! Well, well, this will be a worthy addition to my library. Please give me a moment to review the text.

It appears In'athoi is done skimming the book..

In'athoi tells you, This is a fascinating collection of passages, <Player>. You say you found it on Gnomes who have begun worshipping Telak? Incredible. I wonder if this book is a reproduction of an ancient work or something newly composed.

In'athoi tells you, Do you know much of Telak then? An ancient god, one who was not invited to be part of the Pantheon. The text does not say, nor have I ever heard, of the reasons why he was shunned. Nevertheless, he appears to have harbored a deep anger towards the gods of the Pantheon.

In'athoi tells you, You can see his symbol here on the cover of the book, can you not? It appears to resemble one of the Gnomes' inventions, the automatons. Yes, the automated warriors created decades ago to save the Gnomish people that instead became the mechanism which brought about their doom.

In'athoi tells you, Curious that the god of technology would resemble the very thing that the Gnomes created, I think. The Gnomes most certainly built these automatons in Telak's image, though one cannot help but wonder if there may have been some earlier influence that went undetected.

In'athoi tells you, *she waves a hand dismissively* Do not pay me any mind, <Player>. An old Dryad's suppositions and conspiracies, nothing more. Though, here is an oddity... *she passes a hand over the book, closing her eyes in concentration*

In'athoi tells you, The symbol here on the cover... I feel the presence of magic, it is more than any magic used to create such a work. <Player>, this book may have offered some measure of magical power to the bearers

In'athoi tells you, *she pulls out a small knife and pries the symbol from the cover of the book* Destruction of a book, my teachers and peers would be quite upset with me. *she laughs* No matter, it is not my book. Here, take it and use it well! *she tosses the symbol at you*
