You have found Shau's Blacksmith is chained to his forge. He very clearly hates this.

Quest text[edit]

I see that you have Shau's Tradestone - which means you either slew him, or he gave it to you. Which was it?

He seems to have given it to me and told me to seek you out, Zuyazu.

I see you know my real name. In that case - you are finally someone with half a brain I can speak with - considering I've lately been forced to speak with some individuals who literally have half a brain.

Don't accidentally lose that stone. There's more uses for one than just speaking, you know, and some are highly unpleasant. The walking dead prize the ones they pilfered and corrupted.

Well, how bad can it be?

They're powerful artifacts from a time long gone, said to be crystal drops of blood shed from a battle between two gods. So imagine what a droplet of a god's blood could be used to do if it was a magical focus.

Thinking back of being told that story though - brings back bitter memories of the withered dead burning my forge to the ground.

You owned a shop?

I was Shau's own blacksmith - my shop was on the palace grounds. Only the best could get my weapons and my shop was probably something you will never see this side of the world. I made legends of weapons in my free time - the kind sung about by travelling bards and recorded in history by scribes.

Shau didn't mention you were a master blacksmith.

Gained Paladin experience: 20400 ( Quest Reward )

You have received 25 silver .

Mmm.. didn't expect that of a crotchety old Welger chained to a forge now, did you?

I'm a slave now. Blacksmiths of my caliber are more valuable than wood in a desert, so they can't kill me - they need me too much. They did overestimate where my loyalties lie, of course. I won't train an apprentice who bows to undead, and they haven't successfully broken me yet. Steel gets stronger when heated and tempered.

You don't bow to the undead. Perhaps we can make a deal?

Sure.

The fools who brought us here have abandoned us to serve their new masters. <player>, I ask you, what of Varrantoth? What of Shau?
